Interesting with her saying, basically, that Prince is an egotistical, arrogant prick, which we all knew anyway. She chose her words carefully to say how much she valued him as an ARTIST. She was obviously turned off by his attitude and "eccentric" ways. And this was when he was supposedly all high and mighty and studying the word, between 2001-02. rolleyes

Anyone who was any kind of Prince fan could've told her this. We don't have to work with him to know he can be quite the ass!

Honestly? All musicians are like that. lol

But if Prince's music and his lyrics really give you some insight into where his head and heart is at, then I think that more often than not, the good in him by far outweighs the bad.

No, most arent.

The market is HUGE for someone really close, visable during the heyday to produce specific accounts of fucked up behaviour. Prince is the all time champ of privacy; you'd think an associate from the 80's would have cracked the piggy bank by now - jesus some of these people grew up with him. That little blip Alexander O'Neal let out on "Unsung" was juicier than "he's egotistical". Of course he is he's been wearing eyeliner 24 hrs a day for 35 yrs! lol-Be Specific.

I guess I should apologize to everyone here, I happen to enjy the music of Prince and the many artists that have worked with him over the years, There has been amny rumors some good some not so good about the the Person Prince but as far as I'm concerned I have nothing but respect for the art and the artist. If you folks were hoping that by the title of my post that this would be some bomb shell or something of the like then I humbly apologize. Mikki White is an artist who is trying to keep her musical career and dreams alive. Her book is more about her career before Prince during Prince and after Prince. Her book was not written to create or confirm any rumors. At most she goes into what her relationship with him was all about. The book is more about her then about Prince. The title of this post simply states former Prince associate writes a book. Thanks

She was the lead singer of Millenia, the girl group that Prince was working with in 2000.They sing backup vocals on 'The Rainbow Children' and toured with Prince.

Exactly. Please don't use that "he's a musician" excuse. And a lot of times, based on first-hand accounts from former associates, what he writes in his lyrics is the total opposite of how he is in reality.

If she was just going to write a book about her life, she shouldn't make a Prince reference in the title, just so his fans go out and buy the book. It's fine bringing it up in interviews on what the book is about, but a tacky move to sell books.

The only reason anyone discusses private stuff in a book is when the door's closed and the legal stuff like NDAs no longer apply.

Of course people want to know what he was like to work with and get to know. Sometimes he sounds like a regular guy who enjoys his sports, sometimes he sounds like he loves a good joke and is in on pranks, and other times he says things that you're not sure if he's kidding or serious.

But I think following his history of making business decisions has a lot of "what to do" and "what not to do" to it. Maybe Prince should team up with someone reputable in the business world about the business end of the music industry, and do a "lessons learned" book.

I agree. She really should change the title. It makes it appear as if the entire book is about her time with Prince.Wasn't she working for Prince for only a few years? confuse I think it's a tacky title.I'm sure she has an interesting story to tell, about her own life and experiences. She doesn't need to make it all about Prince.

I will not be reading that book. Who cares. When Prince writes his book, I will be reading that! I like egotistical people that is a turn on( for me), and I have an egotistical side too. If I do not like an employer, my job, etc I will just quit and get another job. In life we all have to deal with people who have different views, attitudes, etc. Wha, Wha, Wha, Life's a Bitch!

The title makes me think this is a book based on her touring, recording years with Prince. I'd think it was a diary, or directly related to her time around Prince. Since it's not, the title is misleading in my opinion. Using a play on words of P's song as the title seems off to me.

Mikki White who was with Prince for two years has written a book talking about the good the bad and they ugly of working for Prince. Name of the book is Purple Reigned On Me will be out soon . She gave an interview for a television program but reserved the meat and potatoes for the book here's the interview http://vimeo.com/26141426

It's cool another 'person' from Prince's camp is writing a book but, honestly, I wouldn't buy another book about Prince unless it was written by Alan Leeds, Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman or Sheila E. Someone who's worked with P from close to the begining until now. Oh and I forgot to include one of the brothaz from The ORIGINAL Time were to write something. I think P is payin' em all NOT to write a book or give interviews, other-wise there would've been somethin' that would've been out past Dez's book.

TurnItUp

This is why I would never want to meet him because he has been the Ultimate for me since I was 12 and I don't want anything to mess it up. I would rather love him from AFAR. I just not too long ago thought about Lisa Barber after that Cherry Moon contest in 86 if she was still a fan. After all those were probably HER pearls he was using in Diamonds and Pearls.

If she wants to write a book she can if she wants to. There have many Prince biographies out including the one Jason Draper just put out and none of them whether they were to make look good or bad has affected his career. The man, for the past 3 decades has managed to stay scandal free. Mikki you have a great voice. Hopefully we can hear more music from you and maybe you can silence some of the no talent non singers that are out right now.

Here's Mikki covering Jill Scott, By the way Milenia did not sign a NDA There is one tidbit you might be interested in. Before Prince converted his faith to JW he had a few moments of worldly pursuits. After all he is a man still.
