I'm downloading these now. They better be good because the files are a lot smaller than usual.

Because they are in mp3, it's not been shared in flac yet.

you guys have orgasms...? eek

I don't like this, believe me or not.. razz

Boring..... actually most Prince concerts, bootlegs are after all those years a bit boring to me.

When I listen to Prince it's STILL mainly his studio albums on WB. (With very few live exceptions).

I will never be bored listen to those... Lovesexy, Parade, SOTT, PR, 1999...... etc etc biggrin

Don't hate me, I just can't appreciate this....

I was there. I remember that I wasn't that happy when the shows just ended, because they were too expensive, I hated to hear songs like love like jazz twice, but most of all they were way too short. But these are shows that I will never forget. The atmosphere over there was so unusual! Two rainy days, such weird setlists, he never changed outfits or guitar, no shelby J, few hits,...

Yes it almost gets me an orgasm razz When I hear the songs in this quality!! It's like a new "official" live album! Of a show I've been to. I'm reliving the whole experience now.

And even better, now I can make one perfect show of the two! Little red corvette from the first show, when I lay my hands on you of the second, etc. etc.

The sound is incredible. The sound levels are better the 84 Birthday (particularly on the aftershow), and the set list is a gem considering it could have easily been the ususal hits.

If only more sets like this could see the light of day.

I am, without question, a bigger fan of Prince's 80s work, and generally prefer to listen to Revolution or SOTT era boots, but this one is pretty amazing. I understand why he devotes so much time to the hits these days, but I wish he would do shows like this more often.

Boring ass shows, save for a couple of tracks here and there. If anything, these gigs are most memorable for me for being the debut of the new arrangement of Little Red Corvette.

After listening to In A Large Room With No Light with such clarity, THIS is why I don't wanna hear Prince play a lot of his hidden gems with this band (or his current lineup, which is close to what the lineup at Montreux was). He takes all of the funk out of the song, and it doesn't even have that full Latin flavor either. And nothing can replace those live horns. It's just all around booty, and it's indicative of where his music's going these days. That jazz lounge shit just is NOT hittin'. I had to listen to the original outtake to take the dull taste of this performance out of my mouth! lol

Now, the sound quality is excellent. There's no disputing that, but I'm completely talking about content.

Just listening to these now, despite me not being a fan of this period I have always had a soft spot for these shows. They sound really good, but I still think there are better shows in circulation from 2009, L.A-Conga Rooms, Monaco and Paris-La Cigale being 3 examples.

This release would have been better as just a dedicated Montreux set, I have no idea why the Cannes aftershow has been included, it's totally unrelated to the Montreux shows and holds a lot less interest to me.

That said, this is a good sounding release and it's good to have the Montreux shows in this quality.

It's also nice to see Eye Records find their own source for a change, I wonder how long that'll last?

Have to agree on the cannes remark. Not sure what it is doing in this set.

Probably the same 'leak'

Good quality, great release. It's not the release I would like on soundboard, but much appreciated! Pretty darn good to hear that soundboard version of Peach, Scandelous, In A Large Room, Empty Room, LRC, and Somewhere Hee On Earth.

Regarding Montreux 2009. How does it compare to: Prince - Montreux Jazz Festival 2009 (4DaFunk) in terms of sound quality?

I have three songs from one of those shows and it sounds like I'm at the venue but, at the very back!

A thousand times better. I'm not kidding. This is perfect.

So, it's the next best thing to an offical release?

We never would have, I think. Prince is a fool when it comes to stuff like this.

Even better. An official release would have edits, overdubs and when necessary censoring.

That one's one of the ones that I didn't throw into the "boring" pile. The third disc is almost nothing but covers, which seemed to have been his M.O. more and more those (and still these) days.

Don't get me wrong! I'd rather something like this come out now than almost any official studio recording from Prince (excluding a remaster or outtakes). I love soundboard recordings, and will ALWAYS welcome them, but the shows themselves just don't necessarily groove me all too much.

What do you mean by "not working"? Does it not play at all, does it skip, etc...? Mine played without a hitch, as far as I can remember.
