Lovesexy Tour '89

I'm not too sure if this is in the right forum or not. i was wondering though, does anybody have any info or pics from the Japan leg of the Lovesexy Tour?

there's so much info about the USA & European gigs. i also heard he didn't use the "in the round" stage.

ANY PICS OR INFO IS APPRECIATED.

Yeah, them and Levi were the only ones carrying that shit, and Miko couldn't wait to get the fuck outta there! Lol!! Don't get me wrong. Michael B. is a GREAT drummer, but at the time, it was such a large contrast to the way things were sounding for the previous few years. Not to mention the lack of some serious eye candy. wink

I wish he did The Nude Tour with the "Electric Chair - SNL" band, to be honest. If you were going to change up after the SOTT/Lovesexy band, that's what you change it into. It was Michael B., Patrice Rushen, Margie Cox, Candy, Dr. Fink, Levi Jr, Miko, and Prince. Now, you can't tell me that group doesn't rock and is a 1000% better than what the NPG turned out to be in 1991!!! Funky, funky, funky!!!

Thanks for saving me the trouble of saying that! Lovesexy shits all over the Nude Tour, and that's not to say Nude wasn't good, but he was on a whole 'nother level with the Lovesexy band and shows.

Well, if you prefer a tour with loads of dodgy acting and a messy medley last for the entire 1st half. That's not my fault. shrug

LoveSexy Tour is still a great tour, but it's nowhere near Nude Tour standards imo

I agree, the changes were a totally culture shock for me, really started to loose Prince after Batman / the tragedy of GB

again i totally agree, it's getting to be a habit! lol. that snl band was tight and looked great all in black. one of the flaws of the npg was that they were overdressed. rosie's hair far too big, same for tommy barbarella, always thought he looked a total twat, michael b and his ridiculous hats, gameboyz looking like star trek extras.

Yeah, I prefer the funk, musicianship, and setlist to that of the Nude Tour's. Easily. He at least TRIED with Lovesexy. The Nude Tour was just hits by the numbers, plus "let me show how cool I can be by adding a whole bunch of nonsensical rap to my shows". Ugh. disbelief

Now, there were a few things I liked about Nude, don't get me wrong. When Doves Cry, Do Me, Baby (with Miko on guitar intro), Partyman, The Future, and The Question Of U/Electric Man were all good great performances! Even though the power of his music was on the decline, he was still putting on the best performances and was still light years better than his contemporaries.

"i wanna rock right now, i'm rosie and i came to get down..." and far too many fucking tambourines!! lol. got some great memories of nude tour though. from the dat intro through to kiss it's flawless as entertainment, prince's dancing was fantastic and i loved the way he kept that beat from the future looping throughout. the difference between lovesexy live and the nude tour can be summed up by the reaction of the audience as they left. after nude shows people were smiley and chatty, after the one lovesexy show i went to we left silent, jaws on the floor, everybody had that "did that just fucking happen?" bewildered look on our faces.

Exactly! He was at the peak of his showmanship/entertainer powers for the Lovesexy tour! He was completely untouchable!!
