Reading the differing thoughts and opinions on this recording is interesting. This was the first time I'd heard Andy sing and her voice seemed weak and rather unimpressive to me, so much so that I went over to youtube to listen to other songs of hers to see what I was maybe missing. The first couple videos I watched weren't great either, imo, although to be fair in the third video I watched her voice seemed stronger and just overall 'better' (I know that's a vague way to put it...sorry). I still can't say I find her exciting, or anything more than one-dimensional as Prince's current flavor of the day.

For anybody with more knowledge than I, a question: before Andy hooked up with Prince, was she known more as a "singer" or as a guitar player? Or as a model who sings and plays (some) guitar? Or what?

more of a model/aspiring actress who is a singer/songwriter and plays some guitar.

Sounds like 2 scrubs.

I can't believe Prince would be associated with this type of performance.

NOT a good look.

What's going on with Prince?

You're right, but in Prince's defense, "Guitar" is a phenomenal song but needs a band. I've played it acoustically about a thousand times, every way I can think of, and it never sounds 1/1000th as good as either of the released versions.

But yeah, there's no inspired playing on that track, but it does sound like they're having quite a good time, and that's really what it's all about.

Only thing I will say after hearing this, Bloody awful but it makes me laugh, he has lightened up abit, and his guitar work is beautiful on it. She is young, but so what, I am 17 yrs older than my GF, my ex GF is with a guy 21 yrs older than she is, in the end it is cute and I have never seen Prince so happy before...look at Rave 2000 DVD, that perfomance always shocks me, just how unhappy he was at that time...its fantastic to see him happy

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I am not so sure Prince was happy during the lovesexy era, but i cant say he was unhappy, angry is probably a better way to describe it and abit dissillusioned...you have put me thinking abit about this, Prince i reckon, thought, his talent would let him sell millions of records, to back up shows that would be unparrelled to anyone, but as we know, that did not happen...it has to be said, Prince has always lived in MJ shadow to an extent, which is a tragedy in itself, they are two completely different performers...when i got the text from my brother saying MJ had passed away, I was thinking, erm, shit, I will never get to see these two perform live together, apart from the vid with JB...BTW have you seen or heard the Prince live version of Billie Jean?

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

lol Lawd have mercy.....some of these comments are straight out of Jackasseryville. It's like watching an e-version of telephone tag play out on screen, where it starts off as one message and ends up a totally
different one with all the added assumptions and speculations. lol

I think this recording was interesting to hear but it didn't get me all worked up.

Imo, releasing this smells like propoganda and an attempt to give Andy some personality. Maybe Prince read all the recent remarks made about how blah and boring (albeit beautiful) she is. biggrin

yeahthat
