Say What? None of what you say here describes me nor what I meant. Never said anything about Prince's guitar playing. I adore "natural, unplugged moments" from P. Don't forget that I'm the one who champions Prince's music in cases where this entire site doesn't. I dig 'Rainbow Children'. I dig 'Planet Earth'. I adore 'Lotusflower'. Love 'N.E.W.S.'. Unplugged? Love 'The Truth' and 'One Night Alone'. Just sayin'
Wasn't meant to be stated as rude or to describe you personally Giovanni,. I apologize if it was taken that way. I was asking because of your response, if you felt by listening to that, if you really feel he needs to get back to the studio, based on what you heard from just that collaboration. I kind of like listening to "unplugged" sessions as well, as it gives a natural feel to the music/song. Speaking of "One Night Alone" - it's one of my favorite tracks.

Oh, it's all good with us! In fact, we usually have similar views. In terms of getting back in the studio, I'm just concerned, because I have been loving Prince's current creations. In terms of that impromptu recording, you could say it's just a fun off the cuff thang, but even in that type of vibe, I'd rather hear something like the acoustic version of "Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful" and "Mountains". "He's a musician's musician..." |

Cool. (bolded part) Agree, and yeah, an acoustic version of "Mountains" is a great idea. I actually just caught on to that song after I heard it sung by Prince's backup singers during one of their shows in France last year. Loved the harmony they brought to it, but yes an acoustic version of "Mountains" would be cool.
On another note, I think some Prince fans should give Andy a chance. I also think Prince is doing a good job of schooling her musically, and the opportunity for a younger/new artist on the scene to get the experience of performing with an established/famous musician, and playing real music. She was already out there on her own performing before becoming part of his band, so it's not like she hasn't performed in front of an audience musically. Maybe not as large as the ones she's in front of now, but it's good to see newer artists on the scene granted an opportunity to perform around established musicians/singers. It's an unpolished recording but the bigger picture is that it's a good version of the song musically and I especially like the guitar at the end. |

This is just like the bootlegs of his piano doodling around.... or that bootleg of McCartney and Donovan casually playing dual acoustic guitars and going through songs and song fragments. |

Its definitely cool to hear this but it sounds like P is giving her lessons on how to play and sing! hahaha
I think this whole recording rehab bit is not a good thing for all of us. Might as well get used to hearing recent/older tracks being played over and over again.
Dammit P why wont you let someone else produce you! Its time!!!!
We need some new funk up in here!!! [Edited 7/15/11 11:16am] The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

OMG Prince lost his mind, this Andy girl can sing but
her "guitar playing" is beyond rudamentary and it will hurt
his music because he started employing beginners.
So every prince.org chick with nice booty who can strum
2 or 3 chords can audition for Prince .
Prince have finaly lost his mind?
He "worked" with non-talents before. He produced a lot of chicks he was "into" an album, like Apollonia or Carmen Electra. |

Oh yeah, that's the one I was talking about. I remember when it was released on there. I forgot about about the FB/FG/FW acoustic version. It was on Funkenberry's site too. I also remember before the NPGMC site closed down, he asked fans' opinions on it.
I also remember when there was a release of "Why You Want to Treat Me So Bad" on there too. I always loved that track. [Edited 7/15/11 12:33pm] |

Is this the first time Prince has released such a casual recording? It's not a demo, a rough version, or produced or practiced version. It's just them casually playing a song with casual talk and not trying to make an acoustic "single" version.
It's almost like you're hearing them waiting for lunch during a sound check and they said "let's play that song... what's it called again? Oh yeah, "Guitar"".
Is this a first in (official) Prince world?

some of you guys really need to chill, Prince is obviously smitten with this woman and who out there would deny a little happiness for him.
For me he seems revitalized and happy, this can only bode well for future recordings...the track is just a little loved up jam...thanks for sharing
back to banging on about the past............ |

To me it seems he is getting creative energy from her. If it makes him happy I'm all 4 it....It doesn't hurt that she is hot to death. She brings a gr8 look to the band. Like his acoustic guitar playing. Always have. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

I seriously hope you aren't serious with that little remark. Because yeah...a 52 year old guy with a track record for short relationships messing around for only a couple months with chick 30 years younger than himself is such a PERFECT situation to start "making babies".

I think this recording was interesting to hear but it didn't get me all worked up.
Imo, releasing this smells like propoganda and an attempt to give Andy some personality. Maybe Prince read all the recent remarks made about how blah and boring (albeit beautiful) she is. |

Umm, oookay. If you have such a cavalier attitude about creating children and and don't understand the importance of building a solid relationship before creating them, then good luck to you because you're going to need it. And by the way, that's not being 'judgemental', that's called being intelligent and realistic and mature.
And I really don't get you lot who wet your pants at the very thought of Prince having kids and are so damn worried about him doing so.

Yep, I do already grasp that this is a Prince forum, but thanks for pointing it out anyway. I certainly agree also that a lot of shit gets talked about here.
Great for you that you have two happy children. You should go spend some time with them and quit worrying about Prince "making babies" with whichever female is standing next to him at any given moment. |
