It is beyond casual listening and pop aficionados. It is not pop, rock, soul or any other label other than fine Art.

Just imagine how Jesse Johnson felt who was about to release an album of the same name and Prince sent him this song and told him to put it on his album. When Jesse was concerned that the Prince connection would take away from it being a Jesse Johnson album Prince said he would release it if Jesse did not use it....and there lies history.

I think Jesse Johnson said they use that word a lot to describe the look of a woman. Since Jesse was from IL, I am not sure if it was amoung his younger years or Princes. But now that I think about it, someone (Prince or Jesse) had to of used the word first. Who was it? Anyone know?

I think Jesse came up with the title, and Prince being his devious self, tried to hog up the credit by releasing the song right before Jesse's album.

But I remember from reading DMSR that Troy Beyer influenced the story in the lyrics. That for whatever reason, she "spooked" Prince. I don't know.

If you look at the subject of the song and the words they are almost identical, except in Shockadelica (the girl must be a witch) is sorta the source of the feeling

SUCH AN AWESOME SONG. I've been listening to it on a mix for days.

This song is genius and as someone said here..Shockadelica is an artist at his peak. The lyrics are very similar to "Power Fantastic". Which is another one of my favorite songs by Prince! Shockadelica is a work out, this is one of the first songs that motivated me to learn to play the electric guitar! LOL. I love the Camille vocals and everything about this song! I am jamming to it now..Like hecks YEAH! I love when he says "In lust you will suffer, but in love you will grow" So true! This is my jam the more I listen to it, it's like WOW Prince was on some new stuff here! lol

Shockadelica is beast! I love that song. I put it on a compilation of Prince tunes that were not the garden variety for my friend who is a music lover and he loves it. Just Fonkay to the bone marrow!
