Elco you look from a clear minded persperctive.

When Prince sings it's better with a man it's not because he condems homosexuality,he only shows frustration

of being so in love with a lesbian.

Basicly he means:Bambi it's better with me.

I won't flame you but I'll say I thought the lyric was interesting for me. At that time people didn't talk about those things as openly and I thought it was erotic as hell for the budding deviant that I was. These days, so much has been seen and heard that it wouldn't mean a thing. Most men are turned on by lesbians I know I am, always have been and with prince, you have a very effeminate man trying to sound macho singing in a falsetto, all reasons to see the rise of an important new artist at that time. He filled all the promise shown in songs like that.

I appreciate your response and in some way I understand your point. My objection to the lyric however is another one. The line ''can't you see it's better with a man'' seriously hints at homosexuality being something someone ''chooses'' to be and can be ''cured'' by having sex with a man. There's my real issue with this song. I went to the 2nd NSJ concert with a'lesbian friend and just felt embarrassed by this lyric. I think it's really childish, inconsiderate even.

just my 2 cts

also, you want to talk tasteless, I remember hearing he played Bambi on the Degneres show for a soundcheck, that's just rude. We all know prince is a mess but we love him anyway don't we?

Maybe that might be the case but the Ellen incident described above AND the sudden appearence of the song on the Nude Tour setlist after discovering the lead singer of the support act, Lois Lane, is a lesbian still gives me the impression there more to the lyric then just that. And it's apparently STILL there

well these days with gay rights even having more priveliges than a dirty injun myself of course people would think it was immature. But at that time and in that political climate it was just naughty enough and was indicative of his future when he would more seamlessly meld all those musical and topical things into his own thing. Still, we all know Prince is an asshole, or can be, so his playing it as some kind of passive-aggressive statement is just inexcusable.

Agreed, exactly my point;

see how he would react if we'd change the lyric to somehow replace sexuality with race....... no choice there either.

People people people check your facts before you acusse Prince of being rude.

Prince played Bambi on Elen show because Elen is a big fan of the song and she requested from Prince to play Bambi.

So if famous lesbian is fan of the song why do you debate?

thanks for that tidbit, are you sure? there was debate here of why he chose that song. if that is why then that explains it. doesn't excuse him for telling W and L they would "rot in hell" or that he wouldn't play with them until they changed their lifestyles. He's a piece of work, probably done gay things in bed, definitely done gay things in front of millions and sang gay things and then tries to preach to gay people. I love the man, but he's a fucking mess.

Yes i'm sure, and yes he did say thing to W and L

and no he didn't do gay thing in bad because he is pussy lover and his image wasn't gay it was androgenus -that look was part of the New Wave era which Prince embrass.

Let's stop talking about everything else except what the subject is

Bambi is great song, lyrics are cool and Prince sings

about his frustration over his love for Lesbian.

At the end he sings i know what you need ,

maybe you need to bleed.

of course Prince don't mean to kill

the girl he just thinks fuck off bit.h

Guitar riff is epic, very hard rocking and in my opinion it belongs

into top 100 greatest guitar riffs in rock.

Guitar solo is also great, nice phrasing ,

great timing and it shows

how capable Prince was at the early

stages of his career on six string.

I have noticed that everytime Prince play Bambi crowd reaction is enormus.Maybe the crowd don't know the song

but can feel the great power and energy of Bambi.

Bambi is also one of those songs you put to your friends to listen when they claim Prince is just a pop star.

And you look at their shocked faces and you enjoy ... cool

I LOVE this song! Normally, I'm turned off by guys with the mentality he has in the lyrics, but the hook is just that hot and he sounds great!
