Prince: "no more albums". Do u believe him? Hope he's kiddin, 20ten was a nice effort, but if he's serious, then it will turn out to be his last album. What are we to assume? In God we trust.

He said no more albums. He didn't say anything about going back to scams, err, music clubs.

He also said he was retiring from touring after the Purple Rain tour...
And I haven't even heard him say he will never record another album. Please don't clutter the org with non-sequitur threads.

Prince wouldn't say one thing and then do something else that completely contradicts what he said, would he?

With the recent announcement about ISPs flagging down customers for illegal downloads, he'll prob. start reconsidering.I think he's just frustrated that people aren't buying his music and blaming it on the downloading community. His music hasn't had a serious reissue campaign, his money is in playing live, and I'm sure he sees far less in his royalty checks than he did a decade ago. But that's also because people don't buy physical CDs anymore. Go to any store and their CD section is like one row. Music stores have gone out of business, the mom and pops still thrive though.
I'd love to see Prince support Record Store Day with an appearance at stores that have vinyl, do some autograph signings (they'd have to buy vinyl for him to sign it), then when people open their albums up (they would have to if they want P to sign it), would have tickets for an upcoming show in the area.
He's focusing on live shows, which a lot of artists say is a time that's hard to write new music, because they need all their energy for the show. If he's looking into reissuing his back catalog, creating new music would also take away from deciding what to do and how to do it.
But there's two things he needs to do - 1 - a compilation to follow up "The Hits/B Sides" so casual fans can be up to date on the music and videos he's put out, and reconnect with old fans who jumped ship in the mid 90s. 2- A reissue campaign so people can buy the stuff that's gone out of print. Even the Warners era stuff isn't completely in stock in music stores.Someone who's just getting into his music now has to resort to downloading to try to hear everything he's done. If he doesn't, then they're just going to buy "Ultimate Prince".
