I love Escape, especially the end chant "Don't get on the scales if you ain't got the weight / It's more hard to love than it is to hate..."
Great track. | |

You know there is a 10 best songs of the 80s thread too, which is struggling at 16 replies, only 12 serious and 9 original. Some of the choices in this thread, make me question if some orgers even understand Prince or his music, Alphabet Street, Kiss, When 2 R in Love, what the fuck. Those people should hand in their cards already and be condemned in the Purple Court of Truth.
At least we all agree that the "Arms of Orion" is complete shite and would be the worst Prince song of the 80s. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Are my eyes deceiving me? Did somebody really put "When You Were Mine" on their list?!

I can only speak for myself but it is much harder to make a list of his ten best songs than it is to make a list of his ten worst.
Prince songs in the '80s are like beautiful women. Some are tall, some are short. Some are skinny, some are thick. There are blondes, brunettes and redheads. They come in all shapes and sizes but nearly all of them are jaw droppingly beautiful. It's much easier to pick out ten uggos than it is to pick the ten hottest and most desirable. That's because a thread like that comes up all the time and people are tired of listing them over and over again. Andy is a four letter word.

Umm! Andy, so do these threads about, what are the worst of ........., except the worst things always outdo the best, and as I recall a search listed no specific threads about 10 best songs of the 80s, had a lot of best 1, 2, 5, 25 songs so on, or best songs off each album and decade, but no one had pegged the 80s down to 10 songs lately (I say that as some pedantic fool is likely to dredge up one from 2007) Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

People respond more to bad things than good things.
Look at the news.
Anyways, still don't get the hate for "200 Balloons" but whatever.

Dance On - Nice drums, but the song goes nowhere and is missing something
Annstesia I havent used this word in this context since i was 12 but i will use it now, Gay. Its gay
Condition Of Heart - Same as above, but i listened to it the other day it may start growing on me
Lemon Crush - Sounds like he whippped it up in 10mins
God - Cheesy, his vocals are horible in this
Pink Cashmere - i know its unreleased, but this song is awful

I was going to mention that, but I don't know what the rules are in this. Does it count as a 90s song if it was released (but not recorded) in the 90s?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think we can only pick songs that were actually released in the 80s,which would exclude a song like "Pink Cashmere"

Why is Annastesia gay? Is that a term of abuse or complement. If its not, I interpret that as Homophobia, which is unaccepatble on this site. [Edited 7/13/11 6:05am] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I agree. The drumming is great but the song lacks a melody and a strong hook.It doesn't really go anywhere, sounding like a weak, unfinished demo.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
plus,I don't think this song fits on the Batman soundtrack. It's poorly written with a frantic,late-80s production that is really annoying.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Really? From what I read and the vibe I got from you, plus taking into account the other songs you usually praise, I thought that you must be in love with Delirious. It's quirky, it has this rockabilly vibe to it, it's quite bland but still very on-point and it's passionate.

Give it a few more spins, it's a great track. So much feeling in it and Prince's double tracked vocals are very nice.

I love 4 the Tears in Your Eyes, nothing WORSE about that song, you picked some seriously good songs as worse... All the Critics Love U in NY?? are you serious? Have you ever heard that song performed live?
