musical genius? i think thats going a tad too far

clearly you're a little biased since youve been studying michael jackson since before you could walk

That's going more than a tad too far! If Michael was a genius he would have managed to release a bit more material. He was probably the biggest pop star the world has ever seen but his music wasn't terribly diverse or complicated.

honestly the guy just was just gifted with a beautiful voice.

if it wasnt for his whole child prodigy thing(which im pretty those bozos wrote none of their jackson 5 hits), he wouldnt be anywhere near as popular.

even when MJ did write lyrics we got ridiculous shit like:

You're A Vegetable, You're A Vegetable
Still They Hate You, You're A Vegetable
You're Just A Buffet, You're A Vegetable
They Eat Off Of You, You're A Vegetable

Prince is the greatest live performer of all time since post Purple Rain 1985 with the exception of the year 1999.

He's the most interesting artist ever. I tell all my friends "until you listen to all of Prince albums, he's the greatest ever".

People get so caught up on his image, that they forget the music. When ever I have a Prince vs you know who debate, I always say, "Bro, go check out 1999 and Sign O' The Times".

Prince is just insane though, I love to tell them that Prince was the cause for the "Parental Advisery" sticker.

You won't get any argument out of me. This is a independent and unofficial Prince Fan community site so we all come here and are fans in varying degrees. I say P is the 'Greatest of All Time' becuz he introduced me to his MPLSoUND. He incorporated and made New Wave, Funk, Rock and Soul music 'his'. I didnt' even like 'Slow Jams' or Ballads until I got into P's music.

Prince has done what no other artist has. With sounds and grooves he has created waves of outstanding music, many of which have the power to raise consciousness, imo. He reaches for heights out of sight by raising the bar to many new avenues of sound. Linking his lyrics and electrifying music to something central to all, he unites hearts throughout the world.

Prince promotes love and glory for God as well as love4oneanother with all those notes he plays for us heart

^ THIS guy is the most Overrated artist,

Off The Wall,

Thriller,

Bad

>>> 3 amazing albums, and then some great singles from Dangerous and HIStory.

3 brilliant albums does not make him KOP imo....

lol

[Edited 7/7/11 8:29am]

For the history of music, your comment is nonsense.

To say that Michael Jackson is The Most Overrated artist is an insult, Prince would not agree with your comment.

His contribution to art is invaluable, not only is Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. History, Dangerous, Invincible... are incredible and we should not forget that Michael has been reaping success since he was a child.

Honestly, the name of the King of Pop does not justice to his greatness.

^ you misunderstood me Purinso,

I heart Michael Jackson and his music, those 3 albums are essential.

BUT he is no better than Prince, and he is no KOP, imo.

Prince is just far more interesting, releasing a lot more brilliant music (he used to):

MJ 2 essential albums in the 1980's

Prince releasing about 9 or 10 essential albums in the 1980s

BOTH artists are fantastic to listen to,

But like Prince said himself in 1992, no need for kings, you have to be a prince to be king anyway.

wink

He was great some time ago. He did his time. Doesnt inspire anymore, just bland and on top of that just repetative lately. Never seen anyone more self destructive. The man denies people access to his best work and just puts out lame, hurried crap thinking we will be blown away. I dont even mention him opening his mouth in interviews...(i know it has no relevance to greatness) Prince should just be Prince!!! shut up and play, release ground breaking shit, concert videos, be ground breaking again, promote your stuff, stop the preaching, you're a musician. & stop the bloody covers in your concerts, you were a leader once, people covered YOU, not the other way around!!! I still love you PRINCE!!!
