Imagine a young Prince Rogers Nelson going in to audition for the "American Idol" judges [original or the new judges]. Do you think he'd get a ticket to Hollywood, & if so, how far do you think he'd get in the competition?

He can carry a tune, which means he probably wouldn't make it past the producers to get to the judges.

I think he would have done well on "American Idol" but I think he'd have done better on a program like "America's Got Talent" where he could've shown off his musicianship skills as well as his vocal ability. He probably would've won that.

I honestly couldn't see Prince punching anyones lights out, he only weighs about half a pound soaking wet. It'd be like someone threw a spongeball at U. lol.

Maybe, but keep in mind when they do those first round of auditions, it wasn't the TV judges making the decisions. A lot of talented people got kicked to the curb because all they give you is a minute. It's something I think he would've taken a pass on because he would not have liked the thought of all these people trying to mold you into a star. He could've gone to LA back in '77 and had some agent set things up with showcase shows. He demanded complete control from the beginning over being a songwriter and performer.

The part where they all have to sing and dance together, he never would've made it. He's too much of an individual to play along like that.
