I recently discovered here in Australia a "digipak"-esque card version of the Purple Rain DVD, which has some special features.

The version I already have is in a plastic case, with no special features, just the movie.

The special features for the card carsed version include the original trailer for Purple Rain and some other things, which I forget right now.

Both are official releases.

My question is, what version do YOU have? Special features or none?

Should I get the one with special features? Is it worth it?

i have the special features version that you're talking about... i got it from wal-mart for about $8... the only special feature is the theatrical trailer... it claims that the bios on the actors as a special feature, but they're not that great...

if you already have one version, i probably wouldn't fool around with getting the other...

when they release a version of "purple rain" with deleted scenes and music videos, then we might be talking...

This is the original Warner's R4 release of Purple Rain before they started using proper amaray cases.

The funny thing about the R4 version is the menu screen they show on the back of the box is actually from the USA R1 release!

The Australian R4 release doesn't even have the trailer as an extra - BUT is in 1.85 widescreen unlike the American pan-and-scan version so i'll accept that trade-off.

I refuse to buy this shit until it's letterboxed...
