Haven't heard anyone compare the two yet.

Just started listening to Kamasutra again and found it kinda of soothing...like Xpectation.


What do you think???

Both of them sound like P.'s version of elevator music to me

Kamasutra was mostly a load of codswallop and comparing it to Xpectation does the new album no justice whatsoever.

There is no comparison . . .

Xpectation is beautiful, interesting, and fresh -- plus I'm proud to play it for others. I consider Xpectation to be a "sister" album to The Rainbow Children.

Kamasutra is simply a novelty, and not very interesting after one or two listens.

I don't care for Kamasutra at all. In fact it's received probably no more than 1 full listen in the entire time I've had the bootleg, then tape copy, then later with CB.

Maybe he had to do a little experimenting with that though to get to where he is now.

I was listening to the Carmen Electra album yesterday, and there is some nice instrumentation on there that goes with some of the album, and Gold Nigga, and that was a new sound for Prince, quite different from the Minneapolis Sound, or the Lovesexy--Graffiti Bridge sound.

Prince releases a lot of music, and we get to hear a lot of shit stuff, but that's probaby just him trying new stuff out - some works, some doesn't.

The last few tracks on Kamasutra are good. In places it actually contains some good music. But for the most part, Prince's version of theme and variations is amateurish.

Xpectations also has it's problems. The "heads" (jazz talk for "main melodies") of the pieces are simply not that interesting to warrant all that endless soloing around them. The playing is uniformly flawless though, if a little generic in places.
