Nice write up.

Yeah alotta ppl dont like Diamonds And Pearls cos it sounds dated, me on the other hand i still love it, its not groundbreaking, but its still good music. For me Tony T, Prince and Rosies rapping ruined it esp tracks like Jughead and Push were really wack . But songs like D&P,Cream,Gett Off, Willin And Able, Money Dnt Matter2night outweigh the awful rapping elements to the album.

Its not his best album, but its not to be considered one of his worst either.

Good write up.

It was truly the first Prince album where instead of leading the pack, he conformed to trends. Good music overall, but very middle of the road.

I think Diamonds and Pearls will always be my least favourite Prince album. "Gett Off" is probably my least favourite single and much of the album is fairly forgettable. To my ears it just sounds like he is trying much too hard to have a hit album. He succeeded but I don't believe the album has withstood the test of time.

Yeah I enjoy a lot of the New Jack Swing R&B and era so this album, while pleasing, definitely is a bummer when you realize that he really did settle into fitting in as opposed to breaking ground. This album definitely didn't stand the test of time!
