I bet the newer/younger fans tend to gravitate towards his more recent stuff more on the whole, because it's closer to what's going on now musically in general, it's closer to what they know. A lot of the 80s stuff probably sounds weird to them. Plus 80s Prince probably weirds them out in GENERAL, he was very out-there and adventurous, they can't handle him .
I'm an 80s baby and my fundmental years was me growing up around 80s musc and I'm odd as fuck myself, so it's a perfect fit. Eighties Prince is closest to how my own mind works and where my own head and heart is at.
If I really had to rank eras musically in terms of which ones I like best it'd be :
1.) 1980s
2.)1990s
3)2000s
As much as I do like a lot of the newer stuff, the eighties stuff will always be IT for me. Second comes the 90s - stuff like the song "Interactive"; or discs like "The Gold Experience" ....

I'm an '80s baby too but the '80s music connects more with me than the music from other eras. Not trying to compare because musically he was still great in the '90s and he definitely had some great moments in recent years. |

I've been listening to albums like Musicology, 3121, Lotus or 20Ten almost non-stop since XMas, even parts of TRC...
I haven't touched albums like DM, 1999, Parade, SOTT or D&P since 2010's summer...
what about you? are you "tired" of his old stuff? Do you think that his 04-10 sutff was (is) bloody good?

Lotusflower (single disc) is a masterpiece and had it been properly promoted by Prince, it could've been a huge success. |
