please one more

I listen to everything Prince does.I love most of it.Just for fun's sake I wish Prince would release one more album of songs using the linn drum. He's got all those vaulted songs..just one more album of stuff from the linn era.Give us some of the early '80's funk for fun.I want to hear that "kuk kuk" sound please!!!Come on,man!!Do it for the kids, man!!

I'm an old timer so perhaps I'm biased but the only reason I didn't turn my RAVE cd into a coaster was that song wherever/whatever has the linn drum in it haha oh well, its not that I dont like his newer works in general, for myself I judge everything not by era but simply case-by-case on individual merit in my own opinion. I am particularly fond of his linn drum stuff though

I do love his current stuff but I must agree with you about how cool a whole album of "old school" Prince, featuring the Linn drum machine, would be. I'd love it.

Maybe someday it'll happen but I won't be holding my breath. confused

1999 and Purple Rain are awesome concept-type albums that have that similar sound throughout almost every song on each of these albums (thanks mostly to the Linn drum machine), and this is one of the reasons why I don't rate Sign O' The Times as high as these albums, because Sign feels disjointed -- full of awesome songs, yes, but it doesn't feel like it's tied together by any one particular concept or "feel" (cf. each album before it).

I say all that (even tho it was just one sentence) to say this: I, too, would like to hear another album like those back in the day. Rainbow Children accomplishes it very well (that whole concept feel of the music), but still I'm looking for something a little more like 1999 or before. Really, for all I care, Prince can do whatever he damn-well pleases, and at least part of it will be something I dig. But still, I'd love to see him go back and do some of that early-80s concept-songwriting music. Can u relate?

By the way, anyone want to mention any of their favorite unreleased early-80s Linn-drum songs by Prince?

"Purple Music" wink yeah

Didn't Andre Cymone also use the Linn? What's that in his song "Red Light" (and "Lipstick Lover")? Did Andre really write "Red Light" on his own? It always sounded Princely to me.

Yep, definitely Dance Electric. What about "unreleased" tho? Maybe for that album that was never released? Prince talked about having another album ready to release back in the early 80s, but it sounded too much like 1999 and he wanted to release something different. What if he did release it? What songs would you like to see on it?
