There has been a lot of talk on the org of late about the live album and possible live albums from previous tours. On a wish list for npgmc03 kinda tip, how about this:

I don’t know if any of u r familiar with an xcellent band called phish, but currently they release a set of live albums every 6 months, with continuity of packaging and collectors set cases 2 keep the discs and packaging 2gether. The shows r taken from different points during their career and because they have a big catalogue and improvise shows and setlists heavily, it is worth owning many of the discs. In Prince’s case this would b perfect because of the different band line-ups, distinctly different tours and eras of his music etc.. It is a great way of archiving the history of great tours, gigs and moments of brilliant musicianship.
Prince would of course make a stack of cash, even selling each disc in one of those cool rainbow children-esque cd covers 4 15 bucks.…
Phish also provide a new service where u can pay 2 download individual gigs from the archives in a format suitable 4 burning.

Problems:
1: prince just cant leave the damn music alone 2 stand as it is/was then without overdubbing, layering vocals etc.. (days of wild at montreal any1??)
2: he’d have 2 pay old band members, who he probably doesn’t like, money.
3: it would take organisation and project management skills.
4: prince would probably take a purple poo in his pants at the thought of that much of his live life’s work being available 2 his fans… Phish of course have a much more liberal attitude 2 the whole thing, allowing as they do folk 2 bootleg their stuff… which is of course how they realised that they could make a packet of cash on the idea in the first place…

anyway, just a thought put out there 4 comment…
