Vent all you like (all the people telling her to leave, why'd you click on this topic?), but don't expect Prince to be what you want him to be NOW anymore than you would have expected him to be what his critics wanted him to be THEN.

If he'd conformed to social pressure back in the early 80s, he would never have got started and you would never have known, respected or loved him in the first place.

Having seen him in concert last month, I would have said don't give up, because I saw in him what I thought was a gradual move away from his recent(ish) conservative religious and moral views.

After this week, though, all bets are off.

He is who he is - right here, right now. Love him for who he is NOW, or don't, but don't wait for him to be something that he may never choose to embrace again. That's just an invitation to a world of frustration and hurt (true also for boyfriends, girlfriends and probably other stuff).

^ Yeah as long as his music stays at least intact, I'm okay with whatever "change" he goes through. I may not like it but no one says you don't have to like everything about someone. Besides Prince is an inspiration even if I don't agree with everything he says. That's why you might as well bid adieu to the Prince that existed when some of y'all were younger, that version would never make a comeback lol

When I was growing up Prince was a massive part of my life, but that's the thing he is part of my life like your best schoolfriends or your favourite summer holidays, so I guess he will always be there.

So the collection won't be on Ebay because how could I sell a gold Japanese "Purple Rain" cd that I was given on my birthday by my two older brothers or the "Little Red Corvette" US 7" picture disc and "Girls and Boys" picture disc they gave me on another birthday to the highest bidder money can't buy what they mean to me.

So I guess it's not just about him or his latest album not being this or that, or even what comes out of his mouth sometimes it's about other people.

My advice don't play him but don't get rid of him because you might just regret it one day, a friend of mine was a massive David Bowie fan didn't like what he was doing sold it all and I mean everything. Was at work one day they played him on the radio and it all came back to why they listened in the first place.

So go on say FUCK TO PRINCE do you think he will notice do you think he will care he's not a friend you fell out with he's not going to phone you and say sorry.

havent read the thread just want to say that for the first time in 25 years as a fan i was ready to do/say the same thing, after the newspaper interview.
