The song would've been a HUGE hit had it been released in 81-82. These cheesy ballads(duets) were ALL the rage back in those two years.

I like it sorta, but its really an incredible cheesy song. But to be honest I appreciate almost every song on the batman album, except batdance and party man

but The Arms of Orion is a really good song, 2 play when u miss your lover

This is a song that I keep on repeat when I listen to the soundtrack. I like it...

To me, it's always sounded like the ballad from a broadway musical.

Despite, or perhaps because, of the schmaltz, I've always had a tear-inducing soft spot for it. Probably my favourite on Batman.

How's it possibly cheesy? It's incredible! I've been blessed with a recent high of this song as well. Also flipping over the 45 for the B-side too (Love U In Me). Great great song that I love

It should never have seen the light of day. 'Dance With the Devil,' or 'Me Touch Myself,' would've been better as they are better songs.

I love it. I don't love sheena easton so much , think I'd like it better if he'd done it with someone else, but I love the song.

Prince absolutely missed with this song. It does sound like it is from a Disney musical. But made up for it with 101 on The Lover in Me CD.

It became a top 40 hit, and a lot of people apparently love it, so I'd say he made a good choice releasing it. Though I would've liked both of the songs you mentioned to be released, I can't see either being a mainstream hit.

Oh it's so ironic that you posted this comment because I was JUST discussing this with someone! I know people hate it but I just love it! I think it's cheeseyness is necessary in life. It's so nice to listen to at night in summer with the windows open

No one call 'Adore' "cheesy" and "sappy."

One of Prince's worst songs on one of Prince's worst albums..thanks for reminding me that it exists. I try to forget.

Do Me Baby,International Lover, Purple Rain,The Condition of the Heart,Sometimes it Snows in April,Slow Love,Adore and finally The Arms of Orion. Which is "odd man out"? I think that this song clearly has no emotion.

ARMS OF ORION just never moved me. It seemed too saccharine, and ok if this was the “love theme” for the movie maybe I can let it pass, but it just seems so twee. A competently delivered ballad that some artists would build careers on, but for Prince it leaves me a bit ~ yeah ok, what next.
