just reading some more of jake brown's book 'prince in the studio' and at the graffiti bridge recordings .. the engineer michael koppelman says that after he came out the studio after 3 straight days of recording 3 new songs by prince of which one was elephants and flowers...he found out that prince had been told to rest his throat because he had an infection but he had ignored it...

you can actually hear how rough his throat sounds on the track if you listen to it...the engineer just thought he was doing a bob dylan like vocal on it....

some interesting stuff that i havent heard before in this book...all the recording engineers praise prince for his amazing ability as a musician and his unbelievable workrate...and he records all his vocals alone in the mixing room...interesting...

One of my favourite cuts of GB - i love the jolting stop start feel to the track.

I love that track i have been listening to it alot lately. I think the unreleased version is better(just like most of the GB traks), its a little darker.

His voice is pretty gruff, i noticed its gruffer on the GB version then the unreleased, i thought he was just putting the voice on aswell.

Got it on now its a great song & 2b honest there aint many on GB,Princes voice sounds ok but 2.43 mins in2 song his voice does sound abit rough.Eye love the song in the film its all eye watch!!always makes me laugh Prince doing an Adam Ant with the warpaint on!!!.

As we all know Prince could imitate this kind of rough voice in his sleep, no matter if he's got an infection or not. But the story sounds good!

The track itself is short and short on ideas at the same time.

Love the song.

As soon as I heard the intro and offbeat drum pattern of ELEPHANTS & FLOWERS (originally recorded in 1987) I was taken back to the Around the World in a Day album and was presented with a song that wouldn’t have been out of place on it. This song has a hopeful essence about it that is contagious, and Prince’s arrangement and delivery of the backing vocals is amongst his best. I simply adore this song. One of Prince’s most underrated tracks.

Chaos and Disorder is a good read.

The book is like 300 bucks on amazon .
