Goldnigga - too expensive for an NPG album, I was fine with purchasing ONA because it's Prince, but hundreds of dollers for Tony M aint happenin.
Rave In2 - I just cant ever find it, and when I do, it's around $60. Are you ready for Jehovah's return? Cuz if you not *holds up TRC*

Besides the download-only albums that were sold via NPGMUSIC I have them all EXCEPT the very first 2 albums. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Why not the first two? | |

I really don't know. I mean, I used to be fanatical about getting every single album and keeping them in pristine condition (vinyl of course)...but I just never made getting the first 2 a priority.

Sometimes, I wonder why they even bother to engage us at all. they seem so offended by us
that you'd think they'd had enough and just turn a blind eye. i'm sure they're good people, but I'm glad I'm not insane like that. good grief!

This.
Acquiring them is not a priority. I have "the files" - which is sufficient. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I have direct copies of originals but, you know, having the actual 'objects' would be nice.
I'm not a as much a collector as to want the most obscure single released in Zimbabwe. As far as official stuff goes I only collect albums. That's why getting the only two I lack would be... well, not a priority but something I just have to do as soon as I can afford it.
NOTE: If someone here wants to get rid of their copies, I'd like to be presented with them....

Exactly. I can't share with you an accurate reflection of the chefs special lasagne if I didn't eat the pasta. .

I don't see anything wrong with an incomplete Prince collection (which I myself are guilty of). If someone has every single Prince album, I would ask, do you have all the classic albums by Parliament/Funkadelic, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, and many others? If not, I would say it's better to spend your money on those rather than worrying about some of Prince's weaker stuff. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

I think the Little Stevie albums and his other 1960's stuff is only in print in Japan. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Oh, I see, well i'm with you in that a lot of them are awful, but there are still some gems in among the horseshite.

I think of it as "what do I keep in my iTunes"...
The NPG stuff came and went, New Power Soul, Goldnigga... etc... I listened to them a few times and felt no compulsion to return to them.
The new ones I pick and keep the tracks I like and get rid of the rest.
Find myself listening to albums I've sort of skipped over, lately. Come. Last two discs of Emancipation. Gold Experience.

Chaos and Disorder: weak. The first bad P album
Emancipation: bad production, average songs. I only dig 6 songs...
Kamasutra:
The Truth: sorry, it bores the hell outta me. I don't wanna hear Prince going totally acoustic...and the songwriting is average, at best. OVERRATED
NPS: very weak
The Vault: bland, bland, BLAND!
Rave: a complete mess. Redundant at best. I only dig 3 songs...
TRC: Darth Vader voice, crappy lyrics, overlong...not interested...
NEWS: just a bad Madhouse album.
ONA (live): too many TRC songs... ONA:
X-Pectation: C-Note:
Chocolate/Slaughterhouse:
Planet Earth: too bland, too cute, disposable pop/rock
Indigo Nights: are you wasting my time???
MPLSound: Prince digging the late-00's sound..pathetic a couple of tolerable tracks, and that's all...
Elixer: c'mon... | |

Yes, withtout that era Prince isn't really Prince. I advice you give those albums another listen. There are some great tracks on those. I think you are weird. Prince I will always miss and love U.

1. Every Prince album that were released after 3121 (my last ever Prince album!) are the ones that I've not brought because musically speaking, Prince has gotten too boring for me to give a damn.
I still like Prince's live performances nonetheless!
2. I NEVER brought The Rainbow Children because after previewing the album at Blockbuster Music (remember that record store?!? ) because it was musically too jazzy & lyrically disappointing.
3. I NEVER brought Chao & Disorder because it was a total mess of a follow-up to a more superior The Gold Experience.
4. Had The Truth been released as a separate album instead of a package deal with The Crystal Ball, I would have NEVER brought that album as all because it really is THE worst Prince album ever. But I blame Eric Clapton for this more than anything because he started the Unplugged album idea and every other artist (Prince included) just had to go "Unplugged" as well. Well I'm sorry, but most tracks from other artists are better off with electric guitars, keyboard synths, & drum machine than all acoustic guitars & drum kits only.
