Interesting time for Prince....As a long time fan, I am noticing a change.

I think Prince is really starting to make some life time realizations. Early this year we hear he is taking a break from recording. Then the recently posted Guardian article says he won't record and album and cites Prince concern with the digital recordings on the internet.

Now us long time Prince fans have all heard Prince make statements before:

May you live to see the dawn.

I will be looking for the ladder.

I will not tour anymore.

Usually they were marketing ploys...

But it sounds to me, this time Prince's strong personal belief of protecting his music has now caught up with the only true way to stop it, by not delivering any more new music. And the past several years we have Prince go through extremes to prevent this. SO why should we not take him seriously this time?

Some say it woudl be a good thing, citing recent works they do not approve of. While other just think it's just another Prince marketing ploy.

I think Prince's problem is the delivery of music because it makes it easy to copy. And he is right. I suppose if there was a new delivery system that prevented this he might think differently, but with recording devices now being what they are, any sound coming out of speakers or headphones can be easily re recorded. So Prince is out of luck. Unless a new invention comes out that can deliver music to your mind....good luck with that Prince!

We can look at various great muscians who grew into their old again and did not die young. At the stage Prince is in, he can continue touring and live a comfortable life. But is it like him? I think Prince finds life challenging and cannot do things the easy way.

It is possible for Prince to just fade into the bliss....but unlike him to do so.

What I am saying is we can expect whatever he does to be different from any major artist before him in his stage in life. So when he says he is taking a break from recording, I look foward to seeing what happens next. Because one thing I know about him, he loves to record. My curosity is how long can Prince go without making an album (he has practiclly done one every year for the past 32 years with only 1 year gaps. Lets see.

Maybe he'll wake the fuck up and try just selling music directly to fans at a low cost. It worked just fine for Trent Reznor and Metallica does it for all their live shows.

Personally, I've had a death grip on that vine for YEARS!

As much as I really...HATE... to finally admit!

I can now...see that it's wilted and withering away!

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I guess what i'm curious about is how come everybody thinks this is any different from

his past proclamations (never touring again, never playing his hits again, etc.).
