Okay, I know everyone's gonna hate me for this...

Okay, I've really tried to see why so many people love "adore" so much, but I can't. I mean, it's a nice song, but I happen to think that this is HIGHLY overated. Don't be too hard on me, I really have tried to really get into it, but I can't.

I agree with you completely. It's a nice song, but nothing in comparison to the rest of the album or more than half of Prince's ballads, in my opinion.

I think what attracts people so much to this song is that it's not one of his typical ballads that deal with heartbreaks, come-ons and spirituality. It's just a sweet, tender love song. Rare for Prince.

I think the other rare songs of this type do it better though.

You are not alone. It is a pretty song, but it has never done anything for me emotionally. The lyrics and delivery seem to be a bit too calculated, or something...

End.

are of ya'll are plumb STUPID if u don't like that song...biggrin j/k wink

I love Adore, always have, but its not the kind of song that "gets me in the mood" I think it's a beautiful romantic song to play at your wedding reception, but not a song to get it on too. Scandulous is that song. biggrin

Not hatred here. Some people don't feel it the same way others do. I personally think it's a masterpiece and quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

I presume that you just read my 'Why can't I get into Sign O The Times?' thread.

I find 'Adore' totally boring and bland. Let's start an 'Adore isn't-very-good' cult.

UGH...I HATE YOU! mad No not really. Whatever floats your boat, especially when it comes to Prince. There are people here who'll swear that NewPowerSoul was the best thing he ever did.

Of course those people are retarded.

I agree. I never really had Adore on the top of my list of favorite songs. Even for a ballad. shrug

One of the radio stations where I live plays it in their quiet storm program like everynight so I am sick of hearing it but overall it is a masterpiece.

I LOVE Adore! But don't worry about anyone hating you. I personally can't stand Cream and lots of people think I'm crazy. But that's OK. They're the ones who have to live with their bad taste.

I'm with you. I like the song, but it sounds just like 50 other Prince ballads I could rattle off. As ballads go, it's one of his better ones, but the slow grooves and the falsetto voice never were why I was checkin' in.

It's a nice song, but it would NEVER make it onto any 'best of' compilation I might create...

There are some moments in "Adore" which I think are absolutely divine, and most of the lyrics in the song are first rate. However, and again I'm probably one of the few, but I think "Slow Love" is a superior ballad to "Adore".

That said, SOTT remastered is the best idea ever.

What kind of crack have some of you guy been smokin. Adore is the ultimate slow jam, and imho if you don't feel what he is saying in that song you need a serious heart transplant. because the one that you have is not working very well.

Slow Love is brilliant! Especially the version on the SOTT vid.

This reminds me of when,on a recent MJ thread, someone said that the song "The Lady In My life" was "unforgivably bad" smile

I love "Adore".I love the bluesy/R&B/gospel feel of it.It's the type of song that Al Green would have killed for!

I agree with First Avenue...nice, romantic, wedding reception, etc.
"Adore" is a beautiful song! I think Prince shows some really raw emotion.
Depending on my mood, it can actually bring tears to my eyes cry. Maybe its more of a sentimental thing for me.
My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows in April and "Adore" will most definately be at the top of my list...if not THE song (even though he doesn't like Prince)..lol.
If U set your mind free, baby, maybe U'd understand...

I LOVE "Adore." It's breezy, and romantic, with a little humor thrown in: "Well, maybe not the ride." smile
I heard that John F. Kennedy played this song (and another Prince jam) at his wedding.
