Admit it. Part of the appeal of Prince is that he might be bat-shit crazy.

Prince has been a weird dude from day one. Let's not qualify it with terms of "used to be an okay sort of crazy". He used to be easily the most odd cat in music. He was legitimately as weird as Lady Gaga wants to be. He was more crazy than MJ. Imagine that?

From 1978 to now...there have been hundreds of from outer space Prince comments, lyrics, clothing, songs, hairstyles, movies, interviews, and album covers, Carmen Electras, etc.

To me, at the end of the day, genius is genius and there are always two sides to it. Good and bad. Cool and corny. On point and out of touch all at once.

Look at any "genius" in music history and you'll see similar bat shit crazy traits moments.

John Lennon, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Elvis, James Brown, Sly Stone, Jim Morrison, George Clinton, Little Richard, etc. I could go on and on. Do some homework. Prince is about as nuts as these other folks. Let's be glad he is not as self destructive.

Bottom line: The first time I ever saw this cat...I knew something wasn't quite right with the guy. What's different now? Prince is cool with himself. Are you?

I just wish Prince was more "healthy" in his views on mankind, was more of a humanist, left wing / liberal as they are called in USA, anti-authorithaere, rebellian like in his old days.....

and he wasn't that conservative, right wing political, authoritharian (spelled?), doctrine loveing, religious..........

I still think he is very intelligent, but his views on many things, and the way he treats people, close bandmembers, fans and others..... makes him weird,

I wish Prince was more NORMAL, and "healthy"....... wink

we're all cool with him being 'bat shit crazy' or else we won't have stuck around for so long. He's always been 'avante' purple', but I think where the vast majority of us draw a definite line is when he comes out with truly offensive quotes / opinions. Sure we live in a democracy so all opinions are allowed [unless your in on of those 'fun' islamic states!!] but it doesn't stop the hurt when they are expressed.

Majority of people I'm sure would agree like I, with you. This is just another evolution of his existence in life.

My only concern is that it appears he's getting worse. He's always said stupid stuff, true. And yes, it's part of the allure and 'mystery' etc. and we love him for it. But that in itself is not justification for the shit he says.

In 2008 he said this when asked about gay marriage:
“God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’ ” (Prince then claimed he was taken out of context, which the interviewer denied)

In 2009 on Tavis Smily he basically admitted he believed in the chemtrail conspiracy theory - one of the most unsubstantiated and laughable conspiracies out there.

Now in 2011 he says this about Muslim women who complain about having to wear a burqa:
"There are people who are unhappy with everything"...

He's still my favourite artist. But man, it's tough rationalising why when he continues to say this shit!

If he ever writes an autobiography - which would probably be never - he'd probably claim Alexander Nevermind wrote it. lol

There are so many things that I disagree with him about...especially religion but there has to be people in his innercircle such as perhaps Cornell West that gives him a different take on issues. Intergrity and humility for me what I see missing these days with him. He wasn't always as you know so off track on issues of life.

I would say that I became (and have remained) a Prince fan in spite of the fact that he might be bat-shit crazy, not because of that fact.

At the end of the day who has Prince really hurt? He didn't drive his car into a crowd, didn't molest kids, didn't piss on any kids, didn't get caught drinking and driving. He says a few words over the years that people go apeshit over and blow way out of proportion. He's not even noticeable on the scale of things people should be worried about in the world today. Think about if you're concerned with global warming are you asking for a scientist or calling up Prince?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Honestly, I think it bothers y'all more than it bothers Prince. lol He's a showbiz veteran of thirty plus years, so I doubt he's losing any sleep over orger's criticism these days.

Dead on. I don't think there's any question that Prince is mad as a hatter and has been for a very long time. But he does not harm anyone aside from the people stupid enough to do business with a man notorious for not paying his bills, and he has done a hell of a lot of good over the years, so just leave him be.

I think there was a period where the Prince eccentricities were seen as cool, especially Purple Rain era and that film definitely has us feeling some empathy for the misunderstood genius who would crawl out of a bathtub in videos. It's interesting to go back and rewatch Purple Rain in retrospect.

I actually remember him getting beat up by the media quite a bit.

This was before I realized he sort of deserves a good rhetorical beating.
