do you think it's Prince's idea to let Wendy&Lisa be the compositors of Purple Rain in the movie? as the "hit" of the movie, did Prince ever precise it was own publicly?

The film also would have you believe The Time weren't puppets for The Kid, and if memory serves me well, that he used his father's composition too. Modenaire aside, it was a Prince soundtrack with some collaborative help from The Revolution.

People like to talk about how art imitated life with that film, but I think people underestimate how Prince let life imitate art in the wake of that films crossover success.

Interesting though, didn't the Time actually compose the 2 Time songs in the movie? the Bird & Jungle Love?

I agree with your 2nd statement. I think Prince let it get the best of him

The Bird and Jungle Love were credited to Prince w/ Morris Day, and at one point, Jesse Johnson.

There are recordings of Prince composing The Bird on the spot, and I believe he's playing with The Revolution. It's hard to know when he comes in with the lyric "America, have you heard...." if that's an ad lib, or from an earlier session.

Modernaire was a solo project - but I think it's true Prince contributed something...maybe Linndrum and synth.

I don't have any inside information, but seemingly this is an integral part of the script; the Kid was showing compassion and humility as well as respect for W&L's songwriting within the scope of the plot. Now whether Prince alone decided this, I don't know; not really sure how involved he was with the actual script of Purple Rain

I think Prince was mostly hands off with the PR script, I think Al took some basics from Prince's Purple Notebook but got the rest from watching the 'live' script of sorts

To me, Prince and the Time's entire thing is visual. The microcosm they've developed 4 themselves was a movie begging to be made.

There's music. That means there's night, there's bars, there are alley's. All of a sudden, a story begins to emerge.

They're exaggerations or minimizations developed to fit a story that never happened, yet, in a strange way, a story that is their reality."

The new information that he offered a demo of the music of the what evolved into the song "Purple Rain" to Stevie Nicks to make up lyrics and sing over years before, but she turned it down...

is cool info to know! She said it herself.
