Prince 'The Chart Topper' ...

In today's music age we all know that 20 somethings are ruling the charts. A lot of us think and say we'd love for Prince music to be on the Top 100 or shall I go so far to say ... Top 10 or even 20.

Is Prince's age keeping him from charting or is it the product (the music) and the fact that he's a independent artist stop that?

(I personally feel the 20Ten album, which I have in digital format and hard disc will NOT be released in the states like it was released over-seas, I live in the states, kinda sad when you think about it but, I have it, so not so much).

I don't think he has a problem with record companies / labels like he did during the SLAVE Era or am I mistaken thinking ...

Does it matter to you that Prince music is on the radio or if it would be on some Top 40 station (playing the newer music). Or are you just fine with him releasing music and touring 'The Greatest Hits' with a few after-shows sprinkled in where the hits aren't heard as much ???

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I think the main reason is he's not bothered at all. He could get in the charts if he wanted but he doesn't.

Older artists always will make the charts even if it's just albums/adult contemporary/hell some older artists still make the Hot 100 and R&B but it's on very rare occasions like Steven Tyler's latest. But I think Prince just chooses not to do it as someone above me said.

The better question is: When was the last time he was actually on the charts?

Album-wise it would be LotusFlow3r. Singles-wise? Black Sweat.

Age doesn't have anything to do with it, but product...maybe. The answer lies w/ Prince who may feel he has nothing left to prove on something that he's already done.

prince has nothing else to prove. he's already solidified himself as a genius and a legend. he's done trying to top charts. he just wants to play and perform. he even said so himself that he doesn't mind if someone critices his music or doesn't like it, as long as it is with love.

it reminds of how people said "mj hasn't had a hit in 10 years and now ppl care about him" uuuuuum....he doesn't have to have a hit cuz he's made billions of them over 40 years!

let these middle ages legends do there thing!

Yeah, Prince's got about 35 years in the bag (33 of them professionally). Honestly, he already proved how much of a success he was anyway. Just continue to live is my only wish.
