My hope is to dress like 1984 Prince (she's gonna be dressed like circa Like a Virgin Madonna). I want to know if any orgers have links to where I can find the black pants with the buttons down the side of the legs and the ruffly shirt (i found one on amazon but it looked cheezy) and the long purple coat. A lot of these are special items so I thought you guys may have a better idea of where to look. And any ideas you may have are welcome.

Cheers!

Spanky

p.s. Prince, if you're reading this, I'd love to borrow the originals. I'll have them pressed and dry cleaned the following day. Hit me up with an org note lol.

Have you ever seen the originals? When folks say the man is tiny, they aren't kidding. I'm an average-sized woman and I haven't been that size since I was 12. lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Jacket: http://batmj.com/prince-r...p-165.html

Hmm... the 'studs' on that jacket are all wrong. You need gold 'pyramid' shaped studs, arranged in perfect rows. I don't know what those things are that they've stuck on that jacket...

lol nothing about that jacket is right. the lapels, buttons, color, studs, shoulders... all wrong xD

Let me clarify a bit. We are already married. We are renewing our vows for our friends because we couldn't afford to have a big wedding originally, so it was immediate family only the first time. I wore a tux and she wore white. Our first dance was "Adore" and we were introduced to "U Got The Look", but beyond that it was a vanilla wedding. Now that we are doing a sort of second go around with our friends, we decided to make it a "Totally 80's" wedding and that's why we are keeping it light and funky. So we decided to do a Prince and Madonna thing and our guests are going to dress however they want to as longs as it's 80's themed (I'm hoping there's a Flock of Seagulls hairstyle or two). So don't worry. We had a traditional wedding that will live in our memory (or at least mine--but I'm pretty sure hers too cause she loves me) as the greatest day of our lives and it was so fucking special even though it was small. I'll never hear the song 'Adore' again and not think of my beautiful wife in my arms dancing in front of our family as the sun set (it was an outdoor wedding).

Make sense now?

I wish u heaven

There is a store called Under Gear that gives a link to some other store that usually has the ruffle shirts. They are usually not way too expensive.

You & UR wife just need to do U and forget everyone else. I live the idea. The 2nd one will be for the memory books for sure.

Some practical advice..

I don't know how much money you are planning on dropping, but I agree with those who said that if you want to get it right you are going to have to go to a seamstress with pictures.

Now you know that if you get anything close to a purple trench coat, get some heeled boots, and get your hair right, then any old white shirts and pants will do....and folks will know that you are Prince.

Yeah - it might not be as authentic, but it'll get the job done.

If money is no object - seamstress all the way!

I can't wait to see pics - 2nd wedding or not - I don't know why people make such a fuss over the ceremony when it's the relationship that matters!

Why doesn't your wife dress like Appollonia? I know she is less recognizeable than Madonna but it's more romantic and befitting for Purple Rain Prince to marry Apples. BTW I think it's a great and fun idea especially for a vow renewal. Your lucky your spouse agrees to it cause mine never would.sad

For the reason you just said. Madonna is more iconic than Apples and since it isn't a Prince theme (although my friends and family all know what a Prince freak I am), but an "80's" theme, we decided Prince and Madonna are perfect. We just had a rehearsal today btw, I'm gonna sing (in my best falsetto) the chorus to Kiss before I kiss the bride. Bah-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na--KISS!

P.S. Pics just might have to be posted. But as an unnamed person from the rehearsal version of Rebirth of the Flesh said, "I ain't makin' no promises!"

When is the big event?

This Saturday. My ruffly shirt is delayed in the mail so I may not get it in time. My back up is a purple ruffly shirt that is cleary wannabe Prince as opposed to just Prince. But even if I don't look exactly as I would like, there will be tequila.

I went to an 80's Prom as Prince and have appeared as him for charity events. This is a dressing gown (robe) made to look like a jacket, a frilly shirt, heeled womens' boots and black jeans that have the criss-cross down the sides.

Yes, they would not allow the foundation at the work event and I felt I was a bit too white (well, I am by birth, LOL). I didn't think the slight tone would offend anyone, work felt otherwise. Thoughts???

That is a wig, which is why I have to wear the bandanna. I am bald and the wig looks horrible at the forehead. Did you notice the sideburns are drawn in? I am not a great singer by any stretch but I do what I do for charity. I do sound black when I do Prince and I can do his sound effects pretty good.

The show was a Country Western/Rock n Roll show. The photos in the back are silly but I was not behind the decorations!

I am having the jacket here (which was a $15 ebay bath robe) converted to a vest as I bought a jacket similar to the one everyone here was going off on. It's not perfect but for $150 for a jacket, shirt and pants, it was a good deal. People have to realize it's a replica!!! I will post photos of everything soon. I am appearing at a party on the ninth.

I don't know if I can get some of it videotaped as I would like opinions on my performing. I love to do Prince but I have to improvise a lot as I am not a dancer by any stretch. The one time I performed, I did Pop Life and Take Me With U. On Saturday, I hope to do Pop Life/Sign Of The Times, Purple Rain and Baby I'm A Star.

My main charity character is Paul Stanley of KISS. Check me out at facebook.com/denaskiss
