Soy Products A Significant Health Risk

An unfortunate bit of news from Ian Goddard. Evidence shows that soy food products are notably unhealthy in some crucial ways.

SOYBEANS LINKED TO BRAIN ATROPHY AND CELL DEATH

As a vegetarian, I present the following with great regret. Soy products like tofu have provided the staple alternative to eating murdered animals. Unfortunately the study reported here: http://starbulletin.com/1...tory4.html has found a significant link between eating tofu and brain aging and atrophy! My first reaction was to hope that the
study was flawed. Unfortunately, a quick study of published research at the National Library of Medicine indicates that there is a STRONG physiological basis for the findings in that study. It seems that a main phytochemical in soybeans, genistein, reduces DNA synthesis in the brain, and reduced DNA synthesis promotes apoptosis, which is also known as "programmed cell death." Multiple studies I found indicate that drug-induced reduction of DNA synthesis is routinely assoicated with reduced cell proliferation and death. DNA synthesis is a critical part of the life cycle of a cell:

It appears that the ability of genistein to reduce DNA synthesis may be why it is a promising anti-cancer agent, for research suggests genistein can kill cancer cells and other drugs that reduce DNA synthesis kill cancer cells. Unfortunately, genistein's cytotoxic properties appear to be nonspecific, ie, it doesn't only kill cancer cells. In the first abstract below, it was found that genistein "induced significant testicular cell death." Ouch! The
second study finds that genistein reduced DNA synthesis in the brain. To get the full picture of what I've stated here, I recommend using the National Library of Medicine's search engine: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed It is easily the most powerful tool on the Internet, accessing most of the published medical research since around 1965.

Too much tofu induces ‘brain aging,’ study shows:

Conclusion - omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, we're all doomed it would seem. NOTHING is safe! What to do?
...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

ONLY VEGGIE BURGERS FOR ME burger

I'm not a JW, and I'm a vegetarian. I do not consume any meat or fish. I do this for health reasons, and because of not wanting to eat animals. The cruelty to animals is a very important factor as well. Not to mention animals are overfed with the natural resources in order for humans to consume - crazy!

I find many nutritious ways to stay healthy without consuming meat. Beans, soy, nuts, veggies/fruits, wheat germ, etc. Oh - did I say chocolate!

I'm with ya on this one, sister!

Recently in Western Canada a JW girl refused a blood transfusion event though she was dying; it went to court and ultimately the girl won, the life-saving blood transfusion was refused and now she is dead. Because, apparently, it's dead blood and it kills interferons.

True story.

This is true, I followed the story on the news and in the paper (I also have a co-worker who is JW and knew her very well)

Herfather went against the church and tried to have his daughter's life saved, ultimatly he was banished from the church for trying to save his little girl. Ruined the whole family.

soy food...isn't neccessary 4 a vegetarian.

In India most people are vegetarian (if the restaurant serves meat...it says non-vegetarian restaurant..a vegetarian restaurant says nothing..so vegetarian restaurants are more common) due to their culture (not cause of money). And they are for thousands of years.

No soy food is eaten there...so vegatarians don't worry about soy..just eat some beans like the indians do.

and about the vegans...vitamin b12 is not a full neccesity...in India a big group of people (the jains) are for thousands of years vegans.

I read many reports stating that b12 is neccesarry but they 4 got about the jains..the live healty vegan lives for years..without supplements!

Mindflux,

You know I agree with you (when you said "it is entirely possible that everything you understand now is wrong - would you agree?)

But that's the whole point! It's all about the search for truth and not being too proud to admit when you might need to make changes or adjustments in your way of thinking.

If I read the Bible and it makes sense to me, then I live by it (and accept responsibility for the outcome). The same way I'm sure you accept responsibility for the way you choose to live your life.

If tomorrow I decide that the faith I have right now doesn't seem like "the truth" to me anymore, then I'll move on to something else.

But you see, I've always been a truth seeker and whether it has to do with the truth about organic foods or whether having SLS in my shampoo is harmful to me or acupuncture really works, it's all part of the search for "truth".

Obviously though, when we start talking about "divine truth" the subject gets a little touchy...

Finally, I firmly believe that God is aware of all of our efforts to get to know him, search for truth, and live the best way we know how.

Love is God, God is Love, Girls & Boys Love God Above...
(But ask yourselves, how do we show love for God?)

You cannot "kill" an interferon

Would it be saft to say overcome or cease to exist from disease (infection) or foriegn substance, just like on the battlefield the first soldiers (frontline) have the most casualties. Do you know that certain ailments (or long term infections) stop the body's natural production of Interferons that's why some people have to have the Interferon injections! I mean they aren't always there your body make's them acording to the disease they are fighting (cancer) so when there job is over where do they go?

We were born with common since people let's put it to work...
