this is ridiculous Damn near everybody takes pictures on their cellphones during a concert! Is Prince's security gonna ask everybody to leave?

David - Prince said "Take out your PHONES". He didn't say it was ok to take pictures.

Ahhhh, the world we live in where when someone says PHONE people hear CAMERA.

PHONES ARE FOR CALLING YOUR FRIENDS TO TELL THEM PRINCE IS PLAYING HIS HITS NOT FOR TAKING PICTURES!

But what would be the point of taking out a phone? Now, unless he was asking for them to be out when the houselights were out and it would be equivalent to holding a lighter, there would be no purpose.

So Prince wants everybody to be distracted with yakking on their cell phones to their friends during his show, instead of paying attention and actually listening to him perform?

I thought the glow of cell phones had replaced the glow of lighters at concerts.

Personally I find it ridiculous that there's no smoking at rock shows so more people have phones than lighters, but, I'm old.

So, Prince saying take out your phones in 2011 is like Prince saying take out your lighters in 1985.

Am I wrong?

well, I smelled so much weed in NY that Prince should have said "take out your lighters" and kept it old skool

I concur Genesia....I worked the 15 night stunts at the Forum....security only "ENFORCED" the rules of the artist. When Prince ask you to take out your cell phone, he wants to see the lights....have you heard him say, awwww, everybody is a STAR tonight. Dang people, get real....he doesn't want pictures taken of him and he doesn't want his shows recorded!!! Arquette was kicked out, because he did what he wanted to do, I was there when Princes' head security took him backstage...he wasn't the first and he wasn't the last. People just don't know how to RESPECT the RULES! Is it that hard to follow?! I remember one night he damn near stop the show...why, because someone took a picture of him....his response, "security, can you stop that person from taking pictures".... I personally had to stop one person with a digital camera from taking pictures....cameras wasn't ALLOWED in the venue! It was a shame that his own personal security team had to probe around the arena to keep people from violating his request. Yeah, Inglewood police was in the house and they were ready to write "Theft of Services" citations.

I'm sure he doesn't care about people getting a little bit of video or taking some pictures for their own personal souvenir, but if he sees someone with their hand up in the air taking video or photos through every song, it's going to annoy him. You're there to EXPERIENCE the show, not document it.

Most venues don't allow video and flash photography, but there's nothing they can do about an entire arena of people taking pics. But most of them just do it for a little bit.

They know digital cameras can take video of an entire show, and it also annoys the people around them that have to try to look around some dude's arm up in the air.

I think before the show starts, Prince should put a PSA up telling the audience not to take photos or video during the performance, but minus the strong language..

Thank goodness I was able to get video and several pictures before security became photo crazy..

I never confused "take out your cell phones & call somebody" or "waive your phones in the air" with

......"everybody take out their cameras & start filming me"

Sorry, I saw MANY people get nabbed at the Forum for taking pictures... Celebs are no different.

Why is it that Prince is the only music artist in history to always have this type of story in the news?
