1999 [RERLS]?? I'm pretty sure this has been covered, but I'm kinda new here:
I just burned my '1999' CD to my PC, & it has '[RERLS]' next to the name. I'm guessing it means Re Release [I've had this CD for quite a few years btw], but what was on the original version on CD? Was it missing DMSR in the first CD release of it? What is the difference?
NOTE: I never own the vinyl copy of this album [only the cassette & CD version: I know I suck & should get it on vinyl ]. So, if this is an easy question, sorry in advance... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

dmsr was missing from the first cd
and in the uk it was released as a 1xLP instead of 2xLP, but later released as 2xLP. in some other countries they released the 2 discs seperately. the 1xLP was a mix of different tracks from the 2 discs rather than just 1 of the discs
and on the tape free came after dmsr on the other side of the tape

Wow, I had no clue the album was released like that. That must be the reason why DMSR's volume is a little higher in volume than the other tracks on the CD [which is actually kinda careless on WB's part if you ask me, but who knows].... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

Yes, it always bugs me how wimpy Automatic sounds, coming in after DMSR on that cd.
Yeah, uh, Prince? Remasters, FFS.

The sequence on the 8-Track tape was seriously messed up; I think DMSR followed 1999...

I agree. IMHO>>>>>The order should have been reversed. Prince's Sarah

Oh I'm okay with the order (that's the way the original LP was), but the difference in volume levels between the two is really noticeable. Makes me wanna buy a record player just so I can listen to that new vinyl release...

just rip the cd to wav, look at the volume levels in soundforge and reduce the level on DMSR, play back the tracks on the pc to see if the volume is right then burn to cdr and there you go

Wow, and I always thought that it was my cd. Automatic has a considerable drop off in loudness. __________________________________________________
