It says volumes that almost the entire top 20 so far are either deceased or not recording on a regular basis as of this time.

Prince is a good singer, but not virtuoso in that area by any stretch. Stevie Wonder and Terrence Trent D'Arby are both better vocalists, among MANY others.

i disagree, he has an amazing vocal range. Whether you like his voice or not, he has a great falsetto and can pull of different styles convincingly.

I love his voice, and it suits his music very well, and I agree his falsetto is probably his greatest vocal asset. But if you're talking "vocal range," classically speaking, head-voice doesn't really count. Falsetto is a technique by which you can hit notes that you can't normally. I use the term "virtuoso" sparingly. He doesn't have the vocal chops to do what the greatest rock, jazz and R&B singers can do (a very small group), including the two I mention above. If Stevie is a 10 vocally (which is hard to deny), I would place Prince around a 7.

I think to be called virtuoso, you need to be able to play or sing anything (at least within your genre, I don't expect a rock star to sing opera, although a few can). By that definition, Prince is a guitar virtuoso, yes. Vocal, not really.

I never heard a singer other than Prince, sing low & high like in Damn u. Falsetto.

i agree mj doesnt deserve it at all....he got so much help starting his music career when most great artists have to start from nothing....like prince!

Prince isn't the greatest singer of all time. So therefore, I'm not voting him no.1 or voting on such a stupid list. No one can honestly ever agree on a list like this.
