"Shy", an underrated gem!

Today it is time to shine a light on the track "Shy".

I have always loved that track, the way it starts with the girl walking (or is it Prince himself on his high heels wink), that ultrafunky rhythm guitar intro and then the song itself: brilliant! I like the storyline, also love the strings on this jam. The only thing about it is that it goes on a little too long...

One of the best songs on Gold Experience & one of his best, period. Very fresh sounding to this day. 2 long? I'd say not long enough.

peace

Probably in the Top All Time Five Prince songs for me...as if I could compile such a list!! As I've said before, one of those great times where the lyrics are as intriguing as the music..."I wonder what LA's thinking..." gotta love it!!

Also LOVE that bluesy version on The Park II boot from Fall 1995. He NEEDS to put this into a future live set..

I looove Shy. Amazing song.

I seem to remember reading in Billboard magazine an brief piece about the Gold Experience... the planned singles after Gold were 319 and Shy. But I guess since Gold didn't do well, they were shelved. Too bad.
