All Negativity BOWS: Prince to COMEBACK! all this negative bullshit about prince not getting another hit or exploding onto the scene again w/ success, can kiss my ass...
Because look at prince's career and track record, he has had over 20years of ups and downs, huge success to huge failures and its all apart of the game. Prince is too big a name and household name at that to allow the ppl who aren't the die hards to forget about him, Prince is aging great, still got the voice and the ability to rock a crowd and write beautiful songs...PRINCE will do it again, he just needed time away from the masses and record industry to get it together, after albums that were expected to make a splash again (rave, and some say emancipation) which in my eyes, got Prince back into mainstream for a bit...but after not selling 5-10million w/ those records or making a #1 single or #1 album on billboard, it wouldve been stupid for prince to continue signing deals to fail!!! So he needed to give the industry a break in which he never did, now its been since 1999 that Prince has released an album on a major label...you'd think now he'd be ready to go back out there after getting his jazz experiments off his chest and that tight band that probably wouldn't be recognized in the mainstream world, because kids aren't all about the musicians, or the quality of musicianship and their music, what ever makes ur booty shake and have a strange, space-y sound to it...is what ppl like, you can even repeat, I love dogs and cats all through it and it still goes #1...so stop dissing PRINCE, many artist's have faded in the pop world and come back eventually and some never return, but PRINCE, PUHLEASE! the music world still wants to see what he has to offer, because they know this man is a genius and creates some of the most crazy beats around!!! Just listen to his albums and you'll find something that can be heard in todays music...PRINCE IS NOT FINISHED!!! It seems he'll sign again and working w/ sheila and having this time to play the music he wants has given him a very theraputic time to himself in order to get back in there and give us another industry PRINCE record, thats true and not purposely intended for todays taste...it'll be what we need!!! I'M SURE OF IT, KNOWING PRINCE!!! [This message was edited Mon Feb 10 8:41:25 PST 2003 by NPD313]

Prince has fought for years to be as free as he is today, and you say he needs to "enslave" himself again, so he can give us what "we" need? How do you know what is needed? You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

We don't need Prince to comeback. For most of us here, he hasn't gone anywhere. My favorite Prince songs and albums are the non-commercial ones. I actually prefer the Prince of today, he seems happier and freer(if that's a word). Plus, those of us who have been fans from the beginning have more access to him now.

your missing the point!!!
I didn't say Prince needed to do any damn thing, I said, prince will not allow ppl to forget about him...I don't expect nothing from Prince at this point, I'm happy w/ NPGMC, but alot of ppl arent happy w/ anything he does...Prince signed 1 album deals for rave and emancipation and if he does that again, which he may...because he's prince, then I'm sure it'll be promoted and given to the masses, the proper way a prince album should and Prince will then record an album w/ intentions of it being his own, instead of following the industry standards of conventional pop music, thats what I was saying, so don't rip my fucking head off!

I thought like this prior to Rave. I am cool with what Prince has become in the music business.

I think that Prince's latest creative efforts have a lot to do with his freedom. During the one term deals he was still contracted to Waner Chappel, and was still expected to make major selling albums. he blew it completely, because the muisc was mediocre (to say the least) and the business for the record companies not so good (to say the least).
Really, creatively speaking, I think that Prince should continue following the path he is on right now and do what he feels like doing. This path has not been shown possible during the rave/nps days. Now if your talking the way he handles the NPGMCbusiness then I can go along way in saying that something has to change, yesterday already. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

What I find funny is that so many "fams" have bought into all of this crap about Prince being "free." Let's examine what "freedom" bought Prince. He is now free to charge his "fams" $100 just to have access to buy even higher-priced tickets to his concerts. Members of the NPGMC, for their investment, found themselves receiving the ONA box set after other people picked it up in stores for less money. The irony of the ONA box set is that it is a shameless plug for NPGMC membership masquerading as a long-awaited live release. He is free to direct market clothing, cologne, jewelry and all manners of ancillary merchandise. It seems freedom has come with a price tag, little regard for quality or service and the chance to force-feed his religious beliefs to people who essentially paid for music. Let's not forget in an interview promoting "Crystal Ball" he said, "It doesn't matter who is number one on the charts; it's who is number one at the bank." He should've called himself the Capitalist Formerly Known as Prince."
