Because the OP is from New Zealand and in most of the world June 7th is written as 7/6 instead of 6/7. The date comes before the month.

After they sing Happy Birthday he says "Does that mean I can come back? Dig up, last year we had a party. It was fun, but it wasn't as fun as this! It doesn't matter what I do,I always have the most fun with U. I'm not good with speeches. I can play music a little bit, but I swear from my heart Detroit is like my hometown. I mean it. I could've stayed in Uptown and partied, but I wanted 2 come here and party with yall!"

I've never understood why the date is different in usa, are the they only country to do it like that?

not to further derail the topic but.. i think its silly to do it d/m/y, because you dont say (speak).. prince's birthday is 7[th] june.. you say its june 7th. maybe thats why it was changed?

:yeahthat:

Ask me today's date and you'll hear - "it's the 9th of June 2011"

I'd write it 09/07/11

yet we still refer to 9/11 but that's probably because the US does or maybe it's the only way to keep the 'irony' of 911 intact...who knows

No it is more like the rest of the world does it that way and the US is the odd man out. Same with metric. Kids hardly know metric in the US.

It's logical to have the day before the month. As you are going in order of precision. The most precise part of the date is the day, then the month, then the year.

I believe the USA is the only country who is month/day/year. We should get with the program and be like the rest of the world.

It's feeding the stereotype beast by shortening "The 9th of June" to "June 9th" smile

Almost every country, apart from the U.S uses d/m/y, because it's logical. You give the most detailed information first. Plus, in most other languages you also do it in spoken language. In German, we say "sein Geburtstag war am 7. Juni" ("his birthday was on June 7th/the 7th of June").

I'm glad you got your answer out of that lot.

Right, my go..... What colour is Prince most associated with?

(waits for 54 posts criticising my spelling of 'colour' before getting the correct answer...)

(waits another 54 posts while people criticise 'criticise'...)

blah blah blah
