I wasn't commenting on Jesus' age when he went sandals-up. Just a one word commentary on my own mortality, how long I've been a hard core fan of anything, let alone a pop star and the fact that Prince doesn't make it easy.

I caught Prince's punk/funk fever right after Dirty Mind and before Controversy was released, so the stage was set for this particular punk/new wave fan to dive head first into Jamie Starr's catalog. Plus he was local and I was a big supporter of the various scenes around the Minniapple.

I might even repeat some.. I was addicted to Housequake. I wanted Housequake all the time and if I didn't get it I'd grumpy.

That was then, I'm much better now and am able to get through the day without any serious cravings...

I've been a Prince fan since 1989. The record: Batman. My age: eleven. Per the demand of my mother, my older brother took the cassette from my room so he could read the lyrics and make sure it was appropriate for my youthful ears. After a few days of my incessant screaming, he eventually got around to reading it, blessed it okay for me to hear, and returned it to me. He must have thought I wouldn't understand what Prince meant when he said, "Let me stick the 7 inch in the computer." Alas, I did.

32 yrs. Teen aged cousin was a drummer, had the big Afro Poster (For You) in his room, heard Soft and Wet and was hooked.

23 years and counting. Such fond memories I have over the years...First time I saw Purple Rain, First time I saw TMBGITW vid, concert experiences, meeting other fans randomly, fan parties, getting my first Prince cd, dancing at family barbecues to IWBYL, The highs and lows of being a lifelong fan...etc. So glad the next generation is now creating those memories about Prince too!

Awesome! I love to hear the stories from my olders sisters all the time how my mom used to jam to WYWTMSB and IWBYL. Guess that's why I got bit by the Prince bug!!

I have the 45 for "Soft and Wet", which I bought new. Unless you grew up with Prince, you can't go back much further than that!

I went to my first Prince concert in 1982 and I have been a fan since the beginning and I am still in awe of his talent. There is no one like him and never will be.
