2 years. LOL I’m almost 17 now.

i've been a fan since 1979, when i was 4 years old . My sister had a major crush on him

22 years, though "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" had piqued my interest a couple years earlier.

I became a fan instantly with For You...I was 12 at the time. Over the years, I have become more and more of a fan. Most of the time, prince is the only music I listen to. AND, I should say, that I am a Prince purist...meaning...I prefer the music that Prince played all the instruments and sung all the vocals.

It was Controversy for me, so I guess that makes me 30 years and counting too. A dude on the bus on the way to a basketball game let me borrow the tape, and I was hooked. Sophomore year in high school. When 1999 hit? Those were good times! Damn I'm old!

Seriously, my mother and my brother (R.I.P.) used to tell me how he had a walkman with a Prince tape inside. He'd put the headphones on my mother's stomach, and apparently I started to react.

Almost 30 years! My cousin gave me a 45 (remember those) of 1999 backed with How come u don't call me anymore. A fan ever since!

26 years!!! My bedroom is a shrine & the loungeroom is slowly becoming one & ive just purchased a bottle of 3121, i'll never stop!!!!!! Must be in the genes, my dad is an Elvis fan in his late sixties( i think) & he has been collecting since Elvis first hit the the music scene!!! Elvis lives in Every room of his house, even the bathroom!!!!!

19 years 6 months and 22 days, since November 15th 1991, when I first bought the Cream cassingle (Remember those) and by the end of November I had the singles for Gett Off, Insatiable, New Power Generation, thieves in the Temple, The Diamonds and Pearls Album and a copy of Purple Rain, so from the start I was totally committed. Its eems a little low compared to the veterans on this site, but I was only 15 and my pocket money had only just reached the echelons of purchasing whole albums.

since i was given an advanced copy of "for you" that was sent to clemson university's radio station by an OLDER (but not by much)cousin with a note that said "we were just going to throw it away cause no one would listen to it." wish i'd saved the note! i wore that album...yes it was vinyl and it's replacement out. still have the 3rd vinyl also a cassette & cd copy of the album that started my love of prince's music 32 years ago. and proud to say my 5 year old niece just discovered "pop life" on my ipod yesterday and hit the repeat button 3 times before she moved on! it's in the blood.

23 years and proud to be on the old school thread!

I wish I could say I was there at the beginning...

Um, methinks you would've "reacted" no matter what was coming out of those headphones. To say you were a fan before you were even born is quite an exaggeration.

I think that's obvious. But, I tell folks Prince has had my head bobbin' since before birth!

Blimey, it's like Prince-a-holics anonymous on here!

One day I hope to be clean and I'm now on 6 Prince songs a day... I remember back in the old days I'd do at least 10 or 20 songs in one straight row.

I might even repeat some.. I was addicted to Housequake. I wanted Housequake all the time and if I didn't get it I'd grumpy.

That was then, I'm much better now and am able to get through the day without any serious cravings...

officially 28 yrs ..... thats when I got my grubby lil 11 yr old hands on 1999 and I was done for been wrapped up every since...although I had brushes with my passion for Prince with my moms 45 of soft and wet
