Taking a picture of someone is pretty personal,

it captures them in that moment "forever."

The second line could be taken two ways, 1) buy it ($)

which turns Prince into a commodity, or 2) buy it (as in belief)

Third line if (1) is true: Prince doesn't understand the act

of regarding himself as a commodity, as an image to be bought

and sold at will. He isn't willing to pay money for his projected self.

Third line if (2) is true, Prince can't buy into

the belief that what the image captures is who he actually is.

I see your point, but you might be over analyzing just a little bit , especially considering most of the lyrics of that particular version are kind of.....off when compared to the original lyrics. The updated lyrics [in general] are pretty shady as a whole imo... but The song itself is DOPe!!!!

none .. theres some very bold lyrics .. some funny lyrics ... some serious lyrics .. an some crazy lyrics an some predictable lyrics .. none of em really annoy me though ..

Yeah, a bit of an eye opener isn't it? He even lifts the "no responsibility" line from Miriam's song which completes the annoying "evolution principle" lyric.

Lyric defender? I was just being

analytical/ giving a close reading

to some of the lyrics. Some people

are suggesting that they don't like

certain lyrics because they don't make

sense, so I thought it would be fun

to really look at what the structure/words

are saying. Whether they make sense

for the song as a whole is a diff story.

Last line: The reason why she can be so confident about her beauty is because she's not just physically beautiful, but spiritually beautiful as well.

Lyrics don't need to be "defended", they're up to interpretation. If someone is annoyed by a certain lyric because they can't understand it, is it so terrible that someone who does understand the lyric will explain it to them?

The third and fourth line are pretty clear but they are given as a consequence of line one and two. If the stars ever fell, mars wouldn't be far behind because this beauty from inside has no reason to be shy. Eh? At most I can give him a Men are from Mars women are from Venus narrative but it still makes little sense.
