Guitar is a bed of roses compared to the bucket of vomit that calls itself Hot Summer.

Horrid?

What a pretentious and prickish description..for ANY song of Prince's.

"Guitar" is a fine track, especially the earlier demo version.

Didn't he put out the demo version to make fun of his fans? I thought he said something about this demo version, but I can't remember. confused

Hot summer is a problem when he let his audience sing it. lol It's awkward when you have to chorusing "hot summer" at his commend whistling

Certainly not the most horrid, but maybe one of the more bland

He "borrowed" the guitar riff from U2's "I will follow" and the melody from the Beatles song "Back in the USSR".

On the same album he used a melody from Barry Manilow and stole the complete groove from a 20 year old disco funk track.

Creativity was low when prince recorded that album.

I changed my opinion - you see lol Didn't wanted to say the song itself is disgraceful but when he let the people sing the words "hot summer"

Really? Can you point me to a single instance of someone saying that?

My vote would be Purple & Gold, but there are plenty of others, especially from the last 10 years or so.

eek wow! But these songs are not on the album wink

Which song is a mix of Barry Manilow and a 20 year old funk track?

Horrid is a great word to describe a lot of his musical output over the last 15 years or so. Every once in a while he gives us a decent song.

Kinda sad now that he has to rely on tours where he plays mostly stuff that is older. Remember that song "Don't Play Me" where he said his only competition was him in the past?

Well looks like his past self is winning by a mile these days.

Too bad he can't manage his money better. If he could, we would probably get to see him do small tours where he plays mostly new stuff - kinda like the ONA tour.

Prince - not black, not white........just COOL

Those songs were princes "inspiration" for the song guitar. And he didn't change much.

Not a mix. On the title track he used the chorus of Barry Manilows "Could it be magic". And please compare the whole groove of Chelsea Rodgers with the disco funk track "Any time or place" from the band Azoto.

^^ Yeah, there is just no getting around that Azoto comparison. Just when you've thought you've heard enough similarities, another one pops out.

Did anything ever come of that (lawsuit, etc)? That is light years more apparent than the Coldplay/Satriani lawsuit a few years ago.

I would say that "3 X 2 = 6" from the Vanity 6 album is much worse.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

you can say you dont like some of his stuff, you can say some of the stuff in the last decade has been bland and boring, but NOTHING he has ever released deserves to be called horrid

If you think his new music is so bad then why do you want him touring it?

Another shining example of a Prince song that BLOWS on the album, but actually rocks live...

I always imagined that Prince was just improvising & jamming this in rehearsal one day & had fun with it.... Then spent about 2 hours in the studio laying it down... The album version sucks... I'm sorry...

BUT it is still fun LIVE....

I listened to Azoto "Any Time or Place" Of course the beat sounds a little bit alike but there are so many funk songs which groove is like that wink

But "Could it be magic" where is the similarity? You gotta help me out! lol
