The lossless is sourced from the same 128kbps, but is tracked and the "Another Mr Wizard production" watermarks have been removed - then saved to Flac, avoiding re-compression.
Thanks for the info. Explains the compression I'm hearing in the lossless version.
I think flac is a bit misused / misleading here. It is not possible to recreate or save what is lost. Not even with all corrections done (ie not upto the scale where flac is used).
The 128 kbps is rather low so it suggests that the source was quite good because in the end it didn't suffer to much.
Normally most people won't hear the difference between 256/320 and FLAC with the normal live recordings that around and I only can say anything about that when I would hear the original compared to the end version.
Soundboard on a high end system would be another story in dynamics though. [Edited 6/6/11 23:10pm] |

I was at this show... It's been a while and it was exciting to be in a small club but unfortunately the show itself was rather dull.
I do remember (1) Prince teaching Mayte to play the keys during the first song while casually eating a sandwich (2) Prince pointing out the changes to Baby I Love You with his fingers because Larry didn't know them. |

My point exactly, and I think Thunderfunk understood it as well. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. |

Indeed. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors. |

I don't know how it's called (I'm not a sound engineer), but there's an annoying effect on this recording (at least on my version). Kind of like when you're converting a 16-bit recording to 8-bit. Maybe not 8-bit, but 10-bit or 12-bit (if that existed...). Something like clipping, but not exactly. It's especially noticeable on the piano parts. Listen to the beginning of "Sweet Thing", for example.
Same effect on "Vega Lyrae" (a release of the Vega 2002 aftershow, not sure it appears on other versions). Listen to "Dolphin", for example.
Same sound engineer/leak? |

Just listened to it. Not the best concert ever but I really like it, it has this great intimate aftershow atmosphere. |
