If you're responding to my comments, the "burden" I saw was that the plea turned into a local news story. Nothing personal to Prince or the boy but the issue being made public is the "burden" so to speak.

Nah, I just used the same word you used. You weren't the first or the only person to imply that this is going to result in some huge deathbead outcry directed at Prince. The vid's been there since Feb, and has 4 comments.

This, along with forclosure-gate, the tax scandal and other P related reports are more of a big deal on the org than with the general public.

While the plea was made via youtube was it news worthy for the local station? that's really more my critique (if you can call it that).

All the kid said was perform for my dad. Everything else is being projected onto him by the folks on the org. Performing for his dad could mean something as simple as Prince having his assistant get the dad on the phone and have him listen while he dedicates a song to him at his next show or posting something similar on DocFB.

But people, (not you) already got Prince in the guy's hospital room singing at the foot of his bed or something.

I just hope the poor man is still around if P does decide to reach out to him since he is terminally ill and the video was posted four months ago.

Prince has a good heart. I am sure if he hears about this he will do something, not necessarily a concert, but whatever he does, I doubt very much if we will ever hear about it.

This is as much for the kid than anyone and this kid needs something positive. If he gets some response from Prince, even an acknowledgement, that kid will always know he made his fathers wish come true.

This post has been on youtube since Feb, so lets hope there is still time

There are requests like this all the time towards many artists, and I'm sure not all are fulfilled, but I would never automatically say a musician/artist doesn't have a heart if there was no response to this kid's wishes publically. Not every request like that to any celebity will be answered or responded to, and like orger "Babynoz" stated, it's left up to the artist to choose if he wants to respond "privately" or "publically", and doesn't have to check in with any Prince fan or members of org if he responded to this request or not.

What should have happened, was either an organization that grants wishes should have been contacted, and Prince could have been asked in private, so he could make his decision without worrying about what the public will think about it. Or the kid could have asked for donations to help SEND his dad to a show. This is NOT the right way to handle things. Next thing you know, everybody will be putting their kids on YT to beg celebs to do shows or make appearances. Not right IMO. Celebs are not miracle workers, they do a job like the rest of us.

I am very saddened for the boy. I can't even imagine what he's going through. I would whole heartedly donate to a fund for the kid and his dad to go together to see a Prince show. But the way it was handled is wrong, kids need to stay off the internet doing this kind of stuff. Its not right. For all we know, the parents put him up to this hoping it would score them something bc people are sympathetic to kids. Happens everyday in the world unfortunately. I just find it hard to believe that NO ONE in this guys family can scrape together enough funds to send him to a Prince show...perhaps the money from the benefit will be used for that?
