When she's not acting on The Game, starring in commercials, or modeling, Andy Allo somehow finds the time to fit music into her busy schedule, and we're happy that she does when the end result winds up sounding as lovely as this. Allo takes on the task of remaking my favorite Bob Marley song ever, "Waiting In Vain," and she delivers quite a fine performance. The sun-drenched island vibe of the original is replaced with a folksy feel suitable for a rainy day. Andy's cover is more contemplative than melancholy, however. Although I am partial to Bob's version (hey, I'm Jamaican; it's in my DNA to be), I do like what Allo brought to this with her acoustic guitar playing and confident delivery.

Nice pics.
I did a thread on Andy Allo in August 2010, in the non-prince forum when most folks here hadn't heard of her. Nice to see Prince showcasing this artist's talent. She was also a guest on the Africa Channel's "Red Kiva" show back in August 2010.

I need to check out some of those other threads more often. A good way to find out new music/artists/musicians. So much Indi music out there so much music that you might not even hear on college stations and the like
Prince seems like his band is going all female. It would be cool
Indeed, and it almost seems intentional. Not cool at all.
"You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee "Water can nourish me, but water can also carry me. Water has magic laws." - JCVD
She did sang 1-2 songs in montreal 24th gig and sang 30 minutes on the 25th.
She did seem to have grown up between those 2 shows, on the 24th she seemed a little shy, soft, prince was teaching her live during the show about how to play her guitar, the sound he wanted etc.. and then... on the 25th, when she hit that note, Prince just ran on the stage jumping and clapping like 'HELL YEAH!!!' he seemed to be so proud of her, she did killed it on stage much more than on the 24th.
When they did a duet later in the show (see pic above where she has a white top), he did give her a quick kiss on the cheek... she just made those big round eyes and tried to stay focused on the song she had to sing, that was funny.
And on the last encore on the 25th, when he came back for Purple Rain, he came back on stage with her, holding hands...
Also, pics taken in the streets of Montreal on the 25th are showing them together out of the hotel.
She maybe got the supreme candy ...

thanks 4 details! whatever's going on she's clearly up 4 it, she seems submissive & all ... i wasn't around when tamar was on the scene, but i'm getting the same vibe?
No, they are not similar. Tamar was already basically a veteran (very experienced) onstage when she started with Prince. Allo appears to be new at this.

I was cruising through my cable channels one day last August, and came across that program, and saw her on the Africa channel's "Red Kiva" show. They have some cool artists on that program from time-to-time. She just happened to be on that day. It was an hour-long presentation, and she sang several songs. They re-aired her performance again in May of this year, right after she performed with Prince at the Troubador.
I agree, looks like he's showcasing many female artists' talents, which is a good thing.

I second this.
"I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day
I don't know about her being an amateur. She's collaborated with quite a few artists and performed live at clubs. Here's some other vids:
Here's a snippet interview with her talking about being on one of the Africa Channel's program, and here she's also singing a track called "Conclusions".
I'm not talking about an all female band like a fad
I doubt Beyonce was the first with an all female band
Sheila E. had an all female band before Beyonce
I like John Blackwell too, but get another female keyboardist and a hot drummer, even just for a touring period would be cool
- I wasnt saying that Beyonce was the first, but it´s too recent. And she is more famous than Sheila. People would say Prince is imitating Beyonce. Anyway, I wouldnt mind an all female band, if it was great. But, if he has to have a female drummer, I hope it´s not Cora. Blackwell is a lot better for Prince music IMO.
Regarding a previous thread that someone said he and Bria were still together.....just because he brought her on stage in San Jose, CA. HA! My response....he left the LA Forum holding hands with a young lady that wasn't Bria or Misty. I couldn't take a picture of them, because he was too busy paying attention, yes he's a observer. I knew that it would eventually come out one day, and it did. BAMMMMM!!!!! Andy Allo, is that female he left with after the show and they were laughing and smiling at each other. He left his band to fend for themselves that night. She was his after party! Shhhh, you'll didn't get this info from me.

Was anyone fortunate to hear Prince and Andy Allo together ?
Was she the new artisan he shared stage with at some recent aftershow/party ?
If so I would like to know how it sounded.
Thanks !
She was his guitarist for the two Montreal Jazz Fest shows June 24, 25, 2011. At the 24th she sang one song near the beginning, but I'm not sure which. And later she sang Waiting in Vain, which was lovely. On the 25th I believe she had a set at the beginning of the show.
She's gorgeous! My days. Prince was always helping her take her guitar off, interacting with her a lot. In the bathroom after the show a girl said: I think he's in love with her!
Kinda boring and par for the course, the dreamer in me wished she was his daughter ; a much deeper and interesting dynamic. Oh well, we ( as prince folks) wont be speculating about her by this time next yr. however she is worth being a fan of on her own merit so i'm buying.
