Morris Day is a total caricature of Rick James. They did a great job of not making it obvious.

Yeah, I've been watching it. That piano in Let's Go Crazy is quite awesome! It made the song much better.

Does anybody know you're here? This house of ill-repute...

Let me know when they air Sign O' The Times. That's really the only Prince film I wanna see nowadays. But I still dig Purple Rain.

I'm loving this. I'm playing a game where during the silent stares by Prince I make up dialogue in my prince voice.

The real interesting story is about his mom, living with two crazy motherfvckers who don't talk. That woman went through hell.

I cannot get enough of Purple Rain. However, I must admit that its hard for me to get through the love scenes with Apollenia (makes me cringe in fact) Anyone else feel the same? lol

I wanna be your lover!

I was thinking that, I was like prince doesn't look like he has any skills. The acting makes lil sense in this movie, its horrible like when prince does computer blue and darling nikki and the club owner is shaking his head like he's horrible when really it was supposed to show it was good. Horrible. But they used amatuers. The story makes no sense cause he was like the kid is on rare form and then tell him his music sucks and no one understands it. I'm confused.

Yes, and I've noticed it has been coming on quite a bit now for teh past few weeks. Everyone's coming up to me saying "Jessany, guess what was on/guess what I was watching last night?"

I'm like "Purple Rain? or Princey???"

They laugh and say yeah and I ask what scene they cam in on what scene they left it. Always a joy

I realize the phrase "in rare form" is often used to convey how especially magnificent a particular performance was, but in the instance of Billy saying that in Purple Rain I think he said "in rare form tonight" sarcastically and NOT as a way to describe how even better than usual he thought The Kid's performance was. In other words, it was meant as a put down, not a compliment.

I missed that totally, it shows how important actors are.

I'm not going to defend the stellar acting in Purple Rain (that was sarcasm, btw, but I'm not an actor so it might be difficult to pick up on it smile but it seemed pretty obvious to me the first time I saw PR when I was 16 that Billy was being sarcastic in that scene. shrug

Apologies if I misunderstand, but I get from your posts that you seem to think "real actors" should have been used in Purple Rain. Is that right? Do you think everybody, including the members of The Revolution, should have been played by professional actors? If that's so, I respect your opinion but I disagree with it. A large reason Purple Rain is so special is because of how REAL it is, if you get my meaning, and how it's populated with so many people that were actually in Prince's scene at that time. Besides, Apollonia was technically a "real actor" and she's horrible, too. lol

That was one of the annoying features of that film. Dude never gave him a compliment until the very end where he simply nodded. lol

Purple Rain didn't really need "real actors". lol It would've made it look corny IMHO.
