Tambourine From 1990 Concert Hi
[img:$uid]http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q34/wayne40_2006/010-2.jpg[/img:$uid]
I was in the front row at Prince's concert back in 1990 (Earls Court i think) Anyway he passed this tambourine down to me and i was elated at the time --I wondered if it would be worth anything does anyone know?

For the memory, priceless, but for collectors, nothing too special as the tamobrines were sold through the prince shops in the early 90's.

It will eventually be worth more and more. Maybe more for personal reasons, but other than Purple Rain, Prince memorabilia never saturated the market. So yes, most original Prince releated items little by little will become more valuable as time goes on. The rarer and more desirable items will fetch more of course.
Your tambourine is not that common of an item, even if it was sold through few shops. I would imagine there was no financial reason for an initial run of those tambourines to he higher than in the low thousands. How many are still around and in good condition? Not too many.
Keep it. Love it, and in time original Prince memorabilia will be worth more than most artists. A lot more than more popular mass marketed artists.

did they sell the ones like in the photo or just the ones with the embossed in gold?
The one in the photo has the O+> with out the 'horn' and it is a separate piece. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

From memory, I think the stores only sold the horm symbol ones.
But either way, I don't think there are a lot of specialists out there collecting tamborines.
I've got one of the Parade tamborines in the loft somewhere. Along with Princes shirt he threw off in Head, his wayfarers and Kiss jacket. . |

yeah that is what I remember too. I am not sure how much it would add to the value but It is worth holding on to. And it is worth documenting when and where it was obtained. (Ticket stub stories in the local news papers) And that this item differs from the ones sold in mass. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |
