Chaos and Disorder...Not anymore?

We all talk about the other albums a lot, but what happened 2 the Chaos and Disorder album?
I think some of the songs are very good, well not Princes best but still okay... rolleyes

What do other Orgers think?

IS C&D GOOD ENOUGH, OR DOES IT JUST STINK?

It doesn't stink, for the most part.

Here is what I think should be done with it though:

Remove the two "stinky" tracks "I Rock Therefore I Am" and "Dig U Better Dead" and burn them. They don't even need to stay in the vault. They're not worthy.

There, now you have a perfectly good (albeit short) rock album!

It's O K, at best. I never play it...it's got a dark feel, and I don't like those types of albums...except the Black Album.

I liked the raw, underproduced, demo-like feel of it. Dinner With Delores was light but fun... I Like it There has some good moments. And there is some fabulous guitar work in "I Will". Apart from that, it's all a bit weak for a Prince album really...

I think it has a kickass feel to it except for those two ragga inflected tracks I mentioned. And I agree, Ian, "I Will" has some transcendant Santana-esque guitar work.

wasn't gonna buy it cause i'm really not that interested in prince's symbol/artist era, but a couple of weeks ago i got it as a birthday present. well, i've listened to it a couple of times and there are a couple of listenable tunes on there. two songs definitely stand out for me: the beautiful 'dinner with dolores' with its WB reference and 'the same december'. the latter is pretty refreshing imo.
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain

actually I like the album a lot... I agree, somewhere in the middle it loses its energy, but regains it quickly with "Into the Light" and continues it pretty nice to the end. And the last track "Had U" is awesome...what an end to the relationship with Warners (mind the title of the first song on Prince's first album for Warners).

THis was a critically acclaimed record when it was released. Dinner with Delores is one fo his best pop songs - better than Raspberry Beret in my opinion. Prine lays out and plays guitar for the first time through a whole album. It is not a commercial peice made for dancing so the less enlightening listeners simply dont get it

I agree, I have took the piss out of a lot of P's output, post (oooh, last say)D + P, but I've never understood the critical fisting that Chaos got. It wasn't heavily promoted, and like Come, was released during a period of SERIOUS animosity between P and The Bros. But I just think it's a fun album, I kinda like it in the same way I like the Undertaker; raw and pissed off. Let's face it he's at his best when he's being a little nasty.

I don't understand what everyone's problem with "Right the Wrong" is.

"Dig U Better Dead" and "I Rock Therefore I Am" are the TRUE OFFENDERS on this album.

i like Dig U Better Dead, but I Rock Therefore I Am is hideous...IMHO.

I think Same December is an amazing song.. and Into the Light/I Will is great.. album is short, but still overall pretty decent. Strays of the World would have fit in there somewhere, I think.

Come on now...is this record really worthy of all the praise it gets?...this was a contractual obligation from what Ive read and it sure does show. This is pop and rock by numbers that Prince can do in his sleep. Even with some keepers such as Dinner etc.
