A Place in Heaven - Wow!!!!! Has anyone heard this, its from the aborted Dream Factory album (July 18 1986 test pressing), a friend sent me a copy (So happy) and it has Wendy n Lisa doing vocals with only Prince adding background, but wow, what a great song, so deep and orchestral. Its a shame he sacked them, because this is head and shoulders above anything that came before it. I also really love Witness for the Prosecution, In all of my Dreams and earlier and funkier versions of Strange Relationship (Why did he lose the sitars, they make the track), Crystal ball and Movie Star without Jam of the year playing in the front, seriously if he had dropped this album on his, we would have been in heaven. Its that good. Who else really loves it. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I like all the versions. I find it haunting.
My take is a woman, is considering suicide following the death of her child. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

it is a bit of a stretch: but
She wants a place in heaven - she wants to die
then all the stuff about children in heaven.
reading the lyrics I am rethinking it, the rest of the song seems to be about something else.

You should get yourself Box Of Chocolates, it has most of these tracks (inc A Place In Heaven) in the best quality available right now.

A perspective to consider. I need to hear it again.

I have to say that I love Lisa's version better than Prince's. But, both are really good.

I never found this lullaby particularly attracting.

I always thought this tune was dead boring. The melody makes me Zzzzzzz. Such an overrated tune honestly.

As much as I love her, never really cared for her voice(or Wendy's) unless it was in the background.
Now if we're gonna talk piano, thats a whole another discussion

You like environmental records? Crickets chirping, water rushing... When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Strangely, I liked the song better when I only had it in muffled quality on a run-down cassette tape... all those '86-era outtakes had more "mystery"... now that they're all cleaned up, they've lost some of their mystique. "Witness" still kicks ass though
My thoughts are that Prince pulled this song because the line "suites at that level are few" is too clunky.
And a world with 3-year-olds in control??? Prince must not hang around many toddlers. Oy vey!

one of my favorite bootleg songs and it perfectly segues from "Moviestar" where the girl falls asleep and this dreamy song begins.
I prefer Prince's vocals, they just seem so much more expressive and moody to me than Lisa's.

I said this so many times i lost count.
I wonder could a new artist do an album and purposefully dump it down to make it sound like a murky bootleg tape. that would be cool huh?

Possibly worst Prince 80s track not given to other artists.

Love it. I never gave the lyrics much thought, but the above mentioned suicide slant gives it a whole different feeling now. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
