Prince On Twitter

Wouldn't it be just awesome if he decided to join Twitter? I know some of his friends and former bandmates are on there like Sheila E, Wendy & Lisa, Brownmark etc.

Prince is pretty much tuned up with the internet world, regardless of what he said about it last year, so I think it will be great idea if he joined to interract with his fans.

Ps what kinda things do you think he will tweet about?

I can't see him ever doing that he's above that kind of boring silliness and inane comments that so called celebrities seem to think is cool.

He also said last year 'The Internet is dead' (lol) so I doubt he would even consider it!

Only to see what a tit he makes of himself when his nonesense rants are limited to 140 characters.

Nah not really, would get a lot of people to see his normal side. I think Twitter is a great medium for stars to connect with their fans.

Prince should have a twitter account with someone else who gives us updates on his albums, concerts etc. jay z has a twitter account and never posted anything on it. is it that difficult to have someone like funkenberry post on a prince twitter account. It would make it easier for everybody to keep up with him. Twitter is a powerful marketing tool nowadays.. o well.

No, and frankly, I'm yearning for the days before celebrities had platforms like Twitter and even Facebook. A little bit of glimpse into their lives and personalities outside of performing is cool, and I have to admit that Sheila and W&L's posts have been fun and interesting (although I don't actually follow any of them on Twitter or have them as FB friends - I just check in w/them once in awhile when it occurs to me or see it when something they've posted gets reposted here on the Org)

As for Prince specifically joining Twitter, I believe he wouldn't ever do it for one huge reason and that is because he wouldn't want to strip away his mystique or sacrifice the 'unreachable' image he's worked sooooo hard for so many years to cultivate and maintain. And I'm FINE with that. I'd rather have it that way, and just once in a blue moon see some 'candid' photo he's okayed that shows him being playful or whatever. I don't want to hear about the mundane details of his daily existence, or have him splashed all over TMZ every other day because of his latest weird rant or remark on Twitter. Look at some other celebrities who've made total idiots of themselves because they don't know how to self-censor or they think EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of their day is newsworthy, or that every passing thought they have is so important it needs to be shared.

Prince HAS Funkenberry though. Why would he need Twitter also? If people care enough to know what's going on with Prince, they'll seek out the info even if it requires a few extra clicks to get it.

Not everybody prince fan know of Funkenberry. He only has about 3000 followers and also gives news on other celebs.. With a Prince account he would reach more people. I don't see how it could harm him..

It would really harm him. I think Twitter is open 4 everyone, and not only Prince fans. We appreciate and understand him (or think we do), but imagining other people who follow celebs just for sake of following, wouldnt b good 4 Prince.

I can't imagine Prince ever joining Twitter, and I'm glad he doesn't to be honest.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

According to his terms, yes! Why else isn't he promoting his stuff like any other entertainer?! Prince isn't the mainstream and like others said: Fans know where to get the news, it's just few clicks away. Anyway, I'm convinced he's not gonna join Twitter. lol

i think u dont want him to get one cause then it would become harder for fans to get tickets to his shows. lol

Prince, has been on Twitter, and that was on the day of Michael Jackson's death. Secondly, his camp was posting inquires regarding a contest for 24 people to attend a party at his home, when he was promoting lotusflower.

maybe if he was he wouldve packed all his shows at the forum.. instead he hired Live nations then blamed it on them. And when the new album comes out it will be interesting to see what he does since he dosent like to deal with major labels.. Madonna dosent have that problem. So she will get support from radio and mtv

Those are all old news. I had a look at those accounts few days ago, and thought the best and funniest of them all was the paisley park studios account. It made me laugh like mad. I think one tweet reads 'Oh, i have 100 friends now, thx", as if Prince would ever have time to tweet nonsense like that. lol lol

If he could work out a deal with Twitter where they would give him several million dollars up front for tweeting, I'm sure he'd do it. Til he decided to abruptly stop and not fullfill his end of the agreement.

Twitter is what you make of it - nobody forces you to tweet about "the mundane details" of your life. An official page, with news, updates, etc, and perhaps the occasional actual comment from Prince, would be cool and it wouldn't lose any mystique or whatever.

Prob. the best way to make announcements of upcoming shows. Also, if he wanted to clarify something, would be a good place to do it directly. Some people have their assistants do Twitter for them.
