I've seen that many fans are not big on these 2 albums whatsoever. I personally wasn't big fans of either one myself. So here's my question: Which of these 2 albums do you prefer & why?

Rave was the first album I bought from Prince and being a newbie at the time, it sounded interesting to me(esp in comparison to whats already out at the time) and it marked the beginning of a helluva music journey for me, so its def Rave.

I can attest to that as well Harlepolis! It was one of my first Prince albums also and I have some many memories of that album. I played it alot every summer for at least four years and it never got old for me. Sure it's a little dated at times, but I really loved that album. I progressed to a hardcore P fan because of it.

Yep, def got a summer/lazy afternoon feel to it nod I was enamored with "Come 2 My House"(which was also, my 1st album from Chaka) I decided to check the man behind the production, couple of weeks later, Rave got released. My only regret is the fact that "Beautiful Strange" wasn't released in the retail version, what a beautiful song. In retrospect, it seems like everything Mr.Nelson experimented with in the late 90s on, keeps getting released/leaked under low profile where the more conventional ones get officially released.

People sometimes have a slightly shocked reaction when I say that Chaos and Disorder was my first Prince album but I think you got me beat!

Let me take a guess here. You saw that awesome cover and said to yourself "I must hear more from the man in the shiny blue bodysuit!"

Funny you said that, I actually wanted to try LoveSexy first because of the obvious "shallow" reason lol But giving that I wanted to hear something new at the time, Rave was the natural choice.

My next stop was The Hits/B-Sides and *BOOM!*

Definitely Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. Probably half of that album is good while Newpower Soul only has a few good tracks. I'll take The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale over either one of 'em. razz

its quite a while since either of these albums were aquainted with my cd player, i will have to dig them out again and see how far i get on each track before i hit the skip button , i only bought them to keep the collection going , but i'm prepared to give them another try.
