A Question From Down Under

Hi Guys.

I have a question.

Prince plays in LA, does his Celebration concerts, plays at Jazz Festivals and tours the States and Europe.

Now that is all cool.

Why dosent Prince release some DVD's of his concerts?

I would like him to tour Melbourne again but if he chooses not to then I would settle for some official DVD's of his concerts around the world.

All other artists release DVD's. But when Prince does actually release something he releases heavily edited concerts. RAVE and Live At Aladdin being examples.

Artists like U2, Rolling Stones and Elton John release many concerts on DVD "Dream Ticket" and "Four Flicks" being examples.

Why isnt Prince releasing anything? Does he want to keep these concerts for his own pleasure? Or does he want to release them at a specific time? Or will they be kept in his vaults until he has passed and then released?

Surely he should realise that his fans across the world cannot afford to fly to Paris or London or Jazz Festivals.

Prince cracks it when we obtain concert footage via bootleg or youtube. Yet he is not releasing concerts on DVD.

Strange?

Good question.

I wonder who can give us the answer to that?

Oh - I know - Prince can.

confused \

I would love to see some official footage, too! There are just too many great on-stage guests at the W2A shows! I'd like a compilation of the highlights of his guests and best performances of the tour.

Not holding my breath.

You'd have to ask Prince, no one knows... It's all locked in the vault with the rest of his unreleased catalogue...

He's released several live footages before, though:

- Live! (1985)

- Sign "O" The Times (1987)

- Lovesexy Live (1988)

- The Sacrifice Of Victor (1993)

- Beautiful Strange (1998)

- Rave In2 The Year 2000 (1999)

- Live At The Aladdin Las Vegas (2002)

We'll probably never get to know why he's so hesitant to release concert videos, but my guess is that in his bizarro world, he thinks that by releasing them, it'll damage his ticket sales.

He's a riddle, wrapped in an enigma and housed in a midget.

uuhson mate

what do you mean by your comments?

So what you are saying is that to be a Prince fan you should go and book a ticket to Paris/London/USA everytime he has a gig to go and see his royal purpleness perform.

And not request DVD's of his concerts. Im sorry if being a fan means you have to have money like Bill Gates or Donald Trump then ill be watching my Rolling Stones and Elton DVD's thankyou very much.

The majority of us on this forum are fans of Prince and his work. I dont see why it is not normal to request a dvd of his latest concerts so us fans can enjoy his greatness without having to travel to the other side of the globe to see him perform live.

When he was in Melbourne I was at his every Melbourne appearance and also went to both his Rod Laver shows. Row 12 and Front Row Centre.

If thats not a fan then I dont know what it mate.

Please explain your scarcasm uuhson mate.

11 March 2012 - Melbourne [Rod Laver Arena]

I would evenbe happy if he played a few Festivals in Australia. We have a HUGE festival following in Australia. It would be amazing for him to be at one of those.

No, no festivals!! I like 802's tour schedule, though, logistically speaking, not sure why Perth follows Auckland...

I've recently been thinking about how the Forum in Melb would be a brilliant venue for Prince to play at - glad you had the same thought smile

I had the great pleasure of meeting Shelby briefly in my recent travels to LA and mentioned that I'd come all the way from Melbourne, Australia to see them and she exclaimed, "Oh! We can't wait to come to Australia!"

Yes, we're used to hearing that line and you can't read much into it, I know, but the idea seemed to genuinely appeal to her, so I hope it happens sooner rather than later.

I also very much hope that a DVD emerges (ie. actually goes on sale) of the W2A/21NS tour - I wouldn't be at all surprised if it does (granted, I wouldn't be very surprised if it doesn't either confused)
