D'angelo & Somethin' for the People

I remember hearing their versions years ago. I loved D'Angelo's take of it.

Oh yes I loved it as well and I generally dont like Prince covers. Stangely enough Something for the People's cover wasn't that bad either.

Good music makes me happy.

Elvis Costello once planned to do a cover version of Pop Life, with altered lyrics, but Prince refused. Costello later recorded the song "The Bridge I Burned", which borrows the chord sequence from "Pop Life"

A few years ago, there was a video on Youtube of Metallica performing Sister. Color Me Badd sampled Crazy You on their song How Deep.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I saw Elvis Costello perform Sign o the Times in Upstate NY in 1990. Great show.

Also I remember hearing Phish covered 1999 or Purple Rain, Can't remember which one it was.

A winner of polish version of X Factor - Michał Szpak - did his cover of Purple Rain. He has already released his debut album, so is he a profesionally musician? I guess so. You can find it, if you search in Google "michal szpak purple rain x factor'. : )
