Okay, another student asking for Prince song/instrumental help wen it comes to end-of-year school projects. I have to have background music to a documentary me and my classmates are working on, which is on the subject of assisted suicide (a person helping another carry out suicide) and mainly Dr. Jack Kavorkian. So I need some help on some dark instrumentals or songs to have as background music.

I know these types are prevalent near the late 80s and mid 90s (Black Album, Come, etc), but mostly need something dark. To busy to go thru my The Work boot... Any advice/opinions? Any help would help! Thanks

I'd honestly never consider any of Prince's stuff for a documentary with this theme. Even his darker stuff has a hopeful edge or lyric to it. Instrumental wise it's even more limited IMHO.

Maybe something from some other artist, or maybe even something upbeat.

No, its not like its going to be the amin focus of the documentary. I just need background. So far I've been smart to think of "Others Here With Us", "Something In the Water" instrumental, and "Old Friends 4 Sale".

Anything from Xpectation. You don't want songs with vocals, and if they are being used as background music anyway, no one will be listening to them.

Xpectation is a great background music album........unless you are in my house, where it is often played very loud.

I actually used THERS OTHERS HERE WITH US as a song for a project in my film class when i was a sophmore in college. I think i had to represent "death" So i was a spirit that would walk into a room and cause someone to die while singing the lyrics to the song.

let me tell you it FREAKED EVERYBODY OUT, My professor included. i got a 100 on it.

Its on youtube somewhere. I posted it on here a few years ago too.

That was my first choice also, and though it's also not an instrumental (just the opposite), maybe "Solo" as a second. Lyrically, sounds kinda desperate like a person ready to give up.
